Historia
Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man—a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

cliche is an understatement.
Revisado: 04-24-19
This is a book clearly written by someone with no actual tactical experiance and a type of fetishism for combat elite.
The writing is terse and follows a predictable path without much imagination and even less believability.
Stick to better written series by authors like Barry Eisler.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

The title does a fair job summing it up.

I really should have stopped listening when I wasn't hooked in the first 30 minutes. The story was not great. The characters were cliche. The delivery was fine but not gripping. Really glad I got this one as a free original and didn't use a credit.

Very graphic and explicit, hard to listen to parts
Revisado: 03-25-19
Ome of my favorite authors. Parts of this book are so horrificly real and horrifyingly well written to make the scenes raise the hair on my neck, bile from my gut, and rage in my heart. The descriptions of what happened to the main character as a child are horrifying and should be read/listened to with caution. Major trigger warning for victims of sexual abuse or rape.

Well that was interesting
Revisado: 05-21-17
While the author did a good job adding some excitement with his narration, the story was a bit lacking and in some ways unappealing.
As a motorcycle rider who has done a larger version of his same trip solo I could see what he was trying to portray, but only because I had ridden many of the same tracks.
For me it was the latent homophobia that lurked just below the surface in many parts of the book and the treatment of women as objects in his writing that kept pulling me from the story.
The humor and openness with which he talked about his flaws and mistakes was admirable but overshadowed by the sexism present.

I really enjoyed the story but was drawn out several times when the narrator mispronounced motorcycle specific words. Otherwise it was a fine performance.

This was a fine book, though at times a little rambling, that I would best compare to "Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenence" in its mix of story telling, travel, and deep human reflection. highly recommended for those who have suffered losses or trauma in their life and have itchy feet to lose the pain in travel.
