Another Great Story from Mr. Harris
Revisado: 01-12-25
I have my favorite books by Mr. Harris and Precipice is among them. when you think that a good part of this story is true and based on fact it makes you more engaged. I found the people to be believable and I has my emotions aroused by the intrigue in what the next steps would be. I can see this book becoming a great movie script. Samuel West does a good job of keeping the pace moving and his inflections were key to keeping me engaged throughout the book.

Good Story about Spy's
Revisado: 01-12-25
This is a good story, however it started out slow and the intrigue was not always the best to keep you focused. I could see some listeners stoping early. It does pick up pace about half way through and the ending was satisfactory and believable. Weaving two stories together makes it fascinating at critical junctures. What made this book easy to listen to was the reader, his voice, inflection, and character changes made the slow parts go fast. Thanks to him for his great skill. If this story has a sequel I would find it interesting, if not the book leaves the listener wondering "what's next".

Historia
In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back. They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.

Didn't Live Up to Expectations
Revisado: 10-29-24
I started listening to this book because I have always enjoyed Kelly Bishop in roles that she played, as the story continued I found it difficult to like her as a person. This is just my opinion, and I don't mean it as a criticism of the book. I just found her life story to be more filled with "me" and that was disappointing. As usual, I found her reading of the book exceptional. I would have liked some more stories from the Gilmore era. Its worth a listen, and I hope you find it more inspirational than I did.

WOW! A Great Factual Story about Vietnam
Revisado: 08-16-24
This is a book that I have recommended to many of my friends of both genders. This is a coming of age novel for our generation. For those of us who experienced this troubling time in our history it is a story that will take you back to your youth and force you to explore, not the war itself, but how you dealt with your friends and classmates who served in that war. It reminds us that women who serve and are often neglected and forgotten, not always included in the now almost a flood of "belated welcome home" events and a constant litany of "thank you for your service" shout outs. Kristen Hannah is a rare author who needs to be celebrated by Americans as a treasure - she is not only a literary success, her compassion and comfort can be felt on every word of this work. Thanks for illuminating our women who have proudly worn our uniforms throughout our glorious history and remind us how these forgotten heroines have been treated, in our families, communities, and nation.

Great basketball read
Revisado: 08-16-24
I really enjoyed revisiting my youth as a basketball lover. I was taken a back by how Coach Wooden supported these two stars of the game and in many ways contributed to the men of distinction the became, finding who they were and then allowing them to shine on and off the court. Using the word love would be strong, but I felt that all three grew to love and respect each other. What a tribute to Coach Wooden, a good man. The issues that they encountered, faced, and dealt with were different in many way.. But they are issues that all of us have encountered as young men. I gained new respect for both Karen and Bill Walton; guided by a gentle man of the game Coach Wooden remained true to his standards till the day he died. I was especially moved by at least three references to my beloved University of Dayton Flyers who competed against these great teams with distinction. Thank''s Scott for a great listen, taking me back is so hard to do, you filled it with joy and that is a hard thing to do.

Balanced Attack on the Current State of Our Union
Revisado: 08-16-24
This was a balanced and funny look at American issues that we currently face. I found it helpful to be reminded of where we had been and to see that both sides present issues that I am not comfortable with.. Bill delivers these funny stories, as he doe every week on his HBO show, with the standup comedic timing that I have seen him do in his standup routines. All in all, an enjoyable listen that slapped us all in the face. Good job Bill!

Historia
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

WOW! A Must Read for Everyone
Revisado: 04-10-24
This book is a terrific, although frightening, account of an actual nuclear war. Anyone who listens to it will be mesmerized by the swift timing and deep detail that the author applies to her accounting. Many works have been written about the likely outcomes of nuclear war, but this book makes those accounts sound imminent. The author reads the story and does so in a manner that conveys both a sense of awe and confidence that one is reminded of the television anouncers who report first had accounts of tragedies. As a listener you should take note of the introduction and count the number of interviews the author conducted and the prominent names mentioned. This book is one in a million that I would say is a must for all of us if we are to be aware of the difficulties of making this decision and the people we elect to do so. Thanks for a great listen.

Two leading authorities—an acclaimed historian and the outstanding battlefield commander and strategist of our time—collaborate on a landmark examination of war since 1945. Conflict is both a sweeping history of the evolution of warfare up to Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine, and a penetrating analysis of what we must learn from the past—and anticipate in the future—in order to navigate an increasingly perilous world.

The Story of My Life
Revisado: 03-06-24
As a member of the United States Military for the last thirty years this book framed my career and allowed me to see that I am not alone with some of my assumptions. General Petraeus and Dr. Roberts have collectively addressed may of the conflicts that have shaped my career and listening to this book provided a framework for me to judge the impact that I may have had on many of these events. Thanks for the road map. In addition, this book also allows the reader to develop an image of the future of combat operations in the future and to question if we have the capacity and the will to win the next one.

Revisado: 03-06-24
Liz you are a gift to all of us. Your work to layout the sequence of events that the committee undertook and your efforts to insure that history will have your remembrances of this time are deeply appreciated. If you are a person who disagrees with Ms. Cheney please listen to her excellent narration of her work and then judge for yourself. If you are a person who is looking for support for your own narrative of these troubling times listen to this work and see if you find it, I have been a Republican all of my life, but lately I find myself without a party that speaks for me. Thanks Liz for telling me I am not alone and that there are others of us who are searching for a way forward that is in the center and works for all Americans.
