it is part of the story......

I love the alien feel, but , continued from the previous installment, too much out of sync exposition and malarkey pseudo philosophy. I've read it many times and listened to it more times than I can easily count. after all, it's part of the story

The D Day invasion like you've never heard it before. Every man, every bullet, bomb, tank, plane, general and spoonfuls of beans involved in the allied invasion of France. Keegan does a fantastic job of breathing new life and new perspective into one of the most hallowed of military histories most studied events.

If you like your military fiction without all the military bearing, discipline or tactical realism, this is your military fiction! In all fairness, I like the story, the characters are fine ( is every tough as nails platoon Sarnt in the universe now female?) but the main character is the worst combat officer since the American civil war. I dont care if his call sign is IceMavrickMan, he can fly a fighter upside down through a birth canal and end world hunger in his sleep, I wouldnt follow him into combat. I will try to finish this because I really do like the setting and basic level world building, but I am hoping, for the sake of his C.O. and his men, this nice guy, rebel, super excellent fighter jock buys his acre of fiddlers green in the first act. Wish me me luck, Im goin in.

I listened to this book twice before I gave up clinging to its shortcomings and allowed myself to enjoy it. The similarities to Starwars are common and obvious, but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment. it's fun..and that's good enough. looking forward to the rest of the series. 7/10. RC. Bray always a great choice.

Engagingly written and surprisingly executed, military science fiction at its most fun. The performance is one of my favorites as R.C. Bray brings a natural, familiar best friend type of read that makes the book entertaining and at times laugh out loud funny. This one hits all the marks and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Perfect pairing of author and narrator.

The story is solid and the characters and tech are well presented, but the Mary Sue ship commander and the ever present quips about colonialism or equality are too much.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Great Hunt to be better than the print version?

Without a doubt

What other book might you compare The Great Hunt to and why?

The Two Towers. As the second book in the series, the main characters have separated and give chase across the world while encountering situations which cause them to behave irrationally and encounter new and exciting places and people and learn absolutely nothing from the experience. So, besides the fact that its the second book in the series..I guess its nothing like The Two Towers.

What about Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performance did you like?

I enjoy the voice acting and consider it some of my favorite. My wife considers it droning and boring. Listen to the sample before buying.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Wait for it...waaaait for it....

Any additional comments?

The development of the characters in these books is my most and least favorite quality. From humble beginnings to majestic station is truly an understatement. I feel as if the minds and attitudes of the main characters do not age or adapt to any of the events in the books. If a story was once heard by the main characters that X people can't be trusted... no matter how many times the X people save the characters life... they are constantly treated as treacherous....it gets oooold. Attitudes originally formed in remote small farming communities never seem to change based on the litany of new experiences the main characters live through. Nearly all female characters seem to be petty, nagging, explosive personalities that cannot hold their tongues on pain of death. Nearly all male characters seem to be insecure, shallow, weak willed and stubborn (passive aggressive anyone?)at the same time. Suspension of disbelief is hindered significantly by social structures that can not be supported in reality. I love these books and I still can't figure out why.
