Historia
One event, big enough to wreak havoc on America. Three men. Seventeen days. One goal: Survive long enough to reach their safe haven. During the first 17 days of the collapse of America, three men travel through the mounting destruction, seeking asylum in the Rocky Mountains, but finding, instead, the nucleus of who they are as men. A jaded special operations soldier, a self-doubting family man, and a once-pampered teenager make their way from three corners of the country toward a survival compound in the state of Utah.

Lots of action and realistic

Found the jumping around to be confusing. Little too much profanity. Really don’t have a main character to focus on.

Historia
Take an unemployed computer hacker living in an RV on the beach in Florida, a cranky cat named Mango Bob, Oscar the wiener dog, a pot-smuggling granny, and a once-famous Hollywood movie star out to reclaim lost glory. Put them all together in a clothing-optional trailer park, along with a clumsy meth cook and a larcenous park manager. Add in a budding romance, a slow boat chase up the Intracoastal waterway, and what do you get? Mango Bay!

Historia
While still in his twenties, Dan inherited the schooner Rebel Yell. Soon after, he left the United States to embark on a series of voyages, mostly in pursuit of beautiful women and good times. While he was away from America, new federal taxes were imposed on luxury property, including privately owned yachts. Dan cannot pay these or other new taxes, so he can't return to the States without risking confiscation of his schooner. Instead he must always fly under official radar and earn a living by his wits while staying one step ahead of the IRS and other government agencies.

Narrator reads well but needs to add some enthusiasm. Would not read again. With a better narrator the book presentation could be better.

Ok but not that entertaining!

Story is more of a “Lost” meets “Swiss Family Robinson”. Characters are interesting but the Island just doesn’t bring about the real situation of being stranded or shipwreck. Would have been better if more focus was on survival than the fantasy of strange creatures and sounds. Have to read next book to see what happens- no closure. I love island, sailing, ocean topic books. This just doesn’t hit the spot.

Historia
Stuart Woods had never owned more than a dinghy before setting out on one of the world's most demanding sea voyages, navigating single-handedly across the Atlantic. How, at the age of 37, did this self-proclaimed novice go from small ponds to the big sea? Now with a new afterword that looks back at how one transatlantic race changed his life, Woods takes listeners on a spectacular journey not just of traveling across the world, but of being tried in fire, learning by accepting challenges, appreciating the beauty of the open water, and living to tell about it.

Great for sailors and those who desire to!

I really enjoyed this book. It is an adventure with joy and sadness. I never was interested in racing, just cruising. However, this book does an excellent job in giving laymen like me the understanding of how exciting the two go together.
