Exactly the facts I needed
Revisado: 03-11-24
As someone who has been shamed for my perspective and had no source for hard facts in order to explain my unwavering stance I took - even when it got me canceled - I so appreciated being given the facts that helped me understand my gut reaction.

Rachel Levis episodes - Every question I had from the other side was answered. And every feeling I had that the reunion was abusive and the misogyny that went on in this event is disgusting and that was discussed at length at well. So I loved this! Bethenny has no fear of seeing the bigger picture and being kind and subjective at all cost and I am so endeared to her for that.

Explores every possible experience of pregnancy
Revisado: 04-09-23
I loved this book. And I'm on to listening to it a second time. Having the emotional aspect of pregnancy covered so thoroughly, and through the all-encompassing lens of tarot was very comforting.

All Things Aside is a punchy, honest, incisive book that shares a view of the world through the eyes of the inimitable Iliza Shlesinger. From the macro to micro, Shlesinger tackles it all with her no-bullshit comedic style. Throughout the book, Shlesinger dives from one subject into the next, making her hilarious asides the basis of her stories, much like she does in her stand-up comedy. Topics range from dissecting social expectations to the notion that products marketed specifically to women are scams, and all manner of things in between.

Historia
Alyssa Milano, actress and activist, delivers here a collection of powerful personal essays that get to the heart of her life, career, and all-out humanitarianism. These essays are unvarnished and elegant, funny and heartbreaking, and utterly real. A timely book that shows in almost real time the importance of taking care of others, it also gives a gut-punch-level wake-up call in an era where the noise is a distraction from what really needs to happen, if we want to live in a better world.

Painful to listen to
Revisado: 01-01-22
I appreciate what Alyssa was trying to do by educating more than entertaining. But I found the vitriolic way she made her value and political stances made (even on parts I agreed with her on... which were many) and the hateful style she spoke about those that don't agree with her too hypocritical and hard to stomach. It literally hurt to listen to this book and I'm sad to say that since I know that's as far from her heart as she meant for it to be.

Revisado: 06-03-20
I cannot tell you how much grace this woman had made me feel towards her and myself in the process. She's so raw while being funny (almost impossible) that it opens new parts of your heart and makes you feel more at home in yourself. I'm going to immediately listen to it again.

Revisado: 02-15-20
I loved this book. Most importantly I loved how much she owned her flaws and "mistakes" and insecurities and encouraged me to be very gracious and kind with myself about my own. The way she is learning to do through therapy and self- forgiveness.

Any additional comments?
If ever there was a woman who showed you what strength looks like - it's Gabrielle Union. Just the stories of what her life has brought to her, and how she keeps moving forward strong, is enough to blow your socks off and encourage you forward knowing that .... another woman survived it. She is visceral and extremely honest about how race has affected her life and it is extremely important that people hear these details. She is honest to the point of sticking her neck out. Even to the point of you going "oh girl!" at times... and yet she only becomes more endearing and you only love her more because of it. Anyone who can be that honest about their faults and their hurts for all to see deserves every blessing of the healing that comes with shining a very bright spotlight on that kind of pain (and "faults" if you will - but I won't). And I hope she receives it!

A book every woman must read
Revisado: 12-05-17
What did you love best about All the Single Ladies?
The statistics are out of this world surprising and helpful. Plus the reader gives an incredible argument for appreciating your single life on top of giving very important information about the state of marriage in America and how women can change the quality of their relationships and lives to lead to MORE fulfilling marriages. She is truly encouraging of (quality) relationship and also of being single. And that ability to be on both sides of the line at the same time is complex, but only the rarest of minds and hearts can master it. And she did. This book empowers women in every phase of life to consider where women have been and where we need to go. And the examples of very strong women who have come LONG before us that have thrown off societal and historical norms to make huge changes. Which is comforting and encouraging at a deep level.
Plus this book teaches women their true value and what they bring to the table as women in a way our culture almost never does through statistical proof of how women make the world a better place as well as heartfelt stories and thoughtful points that hit you at the heart and open it a little wider.
