Another great instalment in Jill's detective work. As if looking into a double murder on a train, a fake writer and a missing ghost husband are not enough, she also has to deal with thieving gargoyles, a gambling cat, an out-of-work bridge troll, and ghosts haunting her brother-in-law's new workplace. Jill is also getting closer to finding the secret of the locket and the dead red headed man.
The narrator is superb as always. these books are only half the fun without her. Please keep recording them!

another good story in the series. Red herrings go with the 4th of July decorations and are plenty in this story happening between mid summer's night and the 4th.

Dumb and Dumber

Not sure if the author or the so called heroine are dumber. this story is soooo bad. first it should be about half as long, you figure it out half way thorough but the supposed sleuth never does, she just stumbles along. then she gets an award for figuring things out, except she didn't... i guess the author forgot that point. or maybe the author aldo tasted the dog biscuit of a dog clearly showing signs of poisoning.... honestly! the author realy has the "sleuth" do that! that's a demonstration of the level of intelligence we are dealing with here. if you like idiot so called sleuths, who just stumble from one erroneous conclusion to another, no parody mind you, this is a book for you. the narrator is ok, i felt sorry for her for having to read this, but at least she got payed.

The antics of Fortune and her two geriatric friends have a ways raised a smile or a giggle. in this book they are laugh-out-loud hilarious, time after time!

long internal dialogues, boring and factually inaccurate. poorly done plot. this is trying to be the murder of Roger Ackroyd but it is poorly done. drop this and read the Agatha Christie classic instead.

Great unconventional mystery.

Great sample of a work from the golden age of mystery. unconventional plot exploring important human relationships and emotions. These themes could be explored in some heavy treatise on the human condition but Tey does it very well in a thoughouly enjoyable light read.

this is presented a story with a twist but all it is is pointless melodrama. the miniaturist never makes any sense, not even a fantastic meaning. idiotic melodrama
