Desert Solitaire is a classic, anyone interested in the southwest dessert of Utah's Moab area must read this book. Abbey is a great storyteller and does a fantastic job giving the reader a virtual tour of southern Utah. He has an anecdote about nearly every point of interest from Moab to the Grand Canyon, each laced with his unique brand of humor and snark.

The book is very entertaining, we listened to it on our Big 5 trip, seeing the places he talks about in the book, often times as we visited them or drove past them enhanced the experience and made the long drive from Kansas much more memorable.

This book should be in every library.

The book was well researched. The writing was detailed and sometimes a bit hard to follow in the audio format.
The narrator almost made me stop listening after only a few minutes. His style is very droning. But I stuck with it and learned a lot of new information about the battles.

The story like all of David Grann's books is well written with meticulous research backing every word.

The story is interesting, the first part is a little slow as the author introduces all of the characters and their motivations, and provides a crash course (no pun intended) on 18th century sailing.

The only thing that kept me from really enjoying the book was Dion Graham's reading. In order to make the book more dramatic he varies the volume of his voice, quiet in the more solemn parts and loud in the more exciting parts. I understand why he does this but I found it annoying, having to adjust the volume multiple times throughout the story.

Over all a good book and a good story.

The author does a good job of making the events from 1775 to 1777 into a cohesive narrative, but beyond that this book is nothing different or special in retelling the early events of the Revolutionary War. If you only have time to read one book on this time period of the war this would be a good book to read as a primer to the events from 1775 to 1777.

The narration is very well done.

The book and the story are great.
The only reason I gave Ray Porter a 4 is that I have listened to several novels that he narrated that hearing his voice gave it a "fiction" feel to me. Not that he did anything wrong. That was just my hangup.

Clinton Romesha did an outstanding job of capturing the battle of COB Keating and the story of the men who fought and died there. This book is a fitting tribute to all of the men involved. Well written and well told.

Never forget.

This book has every element of great literature, comedy, tragedy, great characters, epic events, gripping personal emotions and great writing. And it is all true.

Rep. Steve Scalise has gifted the listener with his personal struggles and triumphant return to the House and the Game. In doing so he pays tribute to all of the people who helped save his life by telling a portion of their story and how each of these parts came together to give his story a happy ending.

From the concerned citizen who walked to the fire station when 911 was jammed, to the Congressman who just happened to be a combat surgeon, his Secret Service detail who saved unknown lives that day, even the nurse who would not let him have a drink of water (for his own good of course) are introduced not only for their part in his story but given due for their own stories.

The trauma surgeon who was most instrumental in saving his life and his wife are rightly given top billing as the dynamic duo whom he could not have survived without.

The audiobook is read by the author which lends the reading a sense of gratitude and awe that reading it alone could not possibly convey.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is definitely a Must Read.

Thank you Rep. Scalise for telling your story and giving such a wonderful gift to the reader/listener.

Billionaire at the Barricades was not exactly what I expected. I thought it would be all about the Trump rise to power. Instead it is about the rise of Populism starting with Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan and flowing from the 70's through 2017.

The information is well laid out and interesting.

It is interesting to hear the book narrated by the author Laura Ingraham, but I wish she would have just read quotes in her own voice instead of trying to emulate who she was quoting. Her Hillary was spot on but the Bill was a bit over done.

Overall a great book well worth the listen.
