Depressing Ending
Revisado: 02-03-25
The performance was excellent! I love Alice Feeney’s books, but the ending of this one was very depressing. There wasn’t any sense of hope or redemptive feeling, it was just so, so sad.

Historia
Emma Carpenter lives in isolation with her golden retriever Laika, house-sitting an old beachfront home on the rainy Washington coast. Her only human contact is her enigmatic old neighbor, Deek, and (via text) the house’s owner, Jules. One day, she reads a poorly written—but gruesome—horror novel by the author H. G. Kane, and posts a one-star review that drags her into an online argument with none other than the author himself. Soon after, disturbing incidents start to occur at night.

So Many Layers
Revisado: 12-09-24
This novel is full of unexpected twists and edge of your seat suspense, yes, but the way it tied together layer upon layer was brilliant. Excellent writing. Gripping story!

Historia
Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy. Mallory immediately loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Meh, pretty good, not great
Revisado: 11-08-24
The story kept me listening, but I kept waiting to everything to make more sense. There is a big twist, but it did not come together well.

Gripping
Revisado: 10-28-24
Very well done! The only reason I did not give five stars was the very last bit of the story seemed a little rushed to wrap it up. Other than that, the twists and turns kept me guessing and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Historia
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Just… good
Revisado: 10-18-24
It was solid book, the male narration really bothered me though. So much so, I almost quit it at the beginning. The story itself was good, with a pretty decent twist at the end, but wasn’t mind blowing.

Historia
A woman falls to her death from a London bank’s twenty-fifth-floor roof terrace. You're arrested for her murder. You tell the police that you had only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump down from the roof, but you had talked her down. You've got nothing to do with this tragedy. You're clearly being framed.

Very good, but you have to pay close attention
Revisado: 09-25-24
This book was excellent, very well done, but can get confusing if you aren’t paying close attention, which is the only reason I didn’t give it five stars. The characters and story were incredibly compelling, and you never see the ending coming!

Good, but not her best
Revisado: 09-25-24
This book was entertaining, but it was not her best. The twist was fairly obvious, but I wanted to finish the story. Overall, pretty good, average thriller.

Unexpectedly Fantastic
Revisado: 09-25-24
This book is a wild ride. It definitely keeps you guessing with more than one twist throughout. The narrator was excellent. Super creepy, but not too terrifying, the perfect balance of suspense and heart pounding dread. My first five star of the year!

Historia
It’s the opening night of The Manor, the newest and hottest luxury resort, and no expense, small or large, has been spared. The infinity pool sparkles; the “Manor Mule” cocktail (grapefruit, ginger, vodka, and a dash of CBD oil) is being poured with a heavy hand. Everyone is wearing linen.

Historia
When Anna Hartley’s husband, Henry, calls her with a terrible, guilty confession, she can’t believe what she hears. It has to be a bad joke—the mild, predictable artist she married would never hurt a fly, let alone commit murder. But her confusion turns to horror when police find his body washed up on the banks of the Rio Grande.
