Loved the way his nieces were incorporated into the story! They are memorable and written very lovable! This was one of the best! And I’d listen to it all over again.

Historia
Grit, determination, and a will of steel have propelled Hudson Stone through life. No case he faced as Chief Inspector at Scotland Yard went unsolved. But nothing could have prepared the implacable investigator for inheriting a dukedom. Even more maddening than his ducal obligations is Lady Elysande Collingwood, the previous Duke of Wycombe’s betrothed. Worst of all, the debts Hudson has been bequeathed along with the title mean he needs to marry an heiress to save his estates from ruin, and the cheerful, dazzling Lady Elysande is the only one he knows.

Compacted story line
Revisado: 01-29-25
A sweet novella but a drawn out beginning that needed to move along. Once it did it seemed rushed and predictable. I love Scarlett Scott, and really thought Sarah’s story would have more intrigue.

Midwest Romance - true and real
Revisado: 12-03-24
The story is well done and just when I was getting anxious to move it forward it does. Yes there is biblical reference and of course a story about a preacher will have this. It was true and real. Scripture, hymns, and prayer are part of a realistic view point. I was impressed. And loved that the author shows how sexual desire is also part of being human. Song of Solomon is all about how a husband and wife should be. Wish more authors understood this when trying to write with a Christian theme. Simone gets it!

Drags on
Revisado: 09-10-24
Every chapter I kept thinking this one will be the one to get this going. This is the second novel of Julia Quinn’s that has done this. Not impressed with her. She may have some fans, but I see her as meh.
The narrator doesn’t do a very good job. The heroine doesn’t stay in character very well. The worst part is the story drags on and on to the point it seems torturous. This story could have been done so much better! It’s too bad.

Great plot till it took a turn
Revisado: 06-07-24
The plot was fun and so were the characters. But somehow it took an odd turn with events that had no relevance. They were random and honestly it messed up a great flow. There was so much potential with these two, and it could have been one of those you want to read over again. But the ending was rushed and that weird event didn’t do anything for the story.

Another good one!
Revisado: 06-19-22
I loved the banter of these two! They both have strong personalities, yet they are able to show vulnerability. Robert teases her, and she teases right back! There were a few funny moments too.
I never thought for one second Robert was a rapist. He even asks her if she was sure before bedding her! And by the time they get to this point, their relationship has gotten to another place emotionally.

Sweet and sensual love story
Revisado: 06-13-22
This was a sweet love story. The down to earth family and Miranda had a quirky side but not over the top. The only nemesis was the one in their heads. Which is okay, but sometimes it’s more interesting to have a bad guy/gal. It could have also had more content if they explored Miranda adjusting to life afterwards.

Could be so much more
Revisado: 06-11-22
There are so many opportunities the author misses. Theodora is a 27 year old spinster, but the reasons for this are not realistic for the time period. Making her 22/23 would work better. Theo has been madly in love with Conner, yet the author doesn’t do this justice. Not a lot of longing moments, and too many hurtful or vengeful ones. Theo seems to want to “get him back” for not noticing her. I also felt like the story dragged out, and introducing new characters was not a solution. The narration was fine.
