Historia
Ellis Island, 1902. Francesca arrives on the shores of America, her sights set on a better life than the one she left in Italy. That same day, aspiring linguist Alma reports to her first day of work at the immigrant processing center. Ellis, though, is not the refuge it first appears thanks to President Roosevelt's attempts to deter crime. Francesca and Alma will have to rely on each other to escape its corruption and claim the American dreams they were promised.

Completely predictible
Revisado: 03-31-23
More predictable than an after school movie special. Characters are completely flat and have zero character development. Author shows ZERO understanding of the time period, and applies modern mindsets to early 20th century characters.

Reads like a high school English paper
Revisado: 02-10-22
The book simultaneously reads like the author just found out about thesauri, while re-using the same words and phrases. This is something very difficult to do, but the author accomplishes it. I'm also not sure the author did any research into the DPRK beyond reading a couple articles.
The performance can best be described as stilted. I wish I could return this book, but unfortunately bought it on special and cannot return it. Waste of $5.

Historia
It is the spring of 1527. Henry VIII has come to Hever Castle in Kent to pay court to Anne Boleyn. He is desperate to have her. For this mirror of female perfection he will set aside his queen and all Cardinal Wolsey's plans for a dynastic French marriage. Anne Boleyn is not so sure. She loathes Wolsey for breaking her betrothal to the Earl of Northumberland's son, Harry Percy, whom she had loved. She does not welcome the king's advances; she knows that she can never give him her heart.

If you’ve watched The Tudors, you’ve read this book.
Revisado: 01-13-20
I don’t know what else to say, this book mirrors the show so much it’s almost laughable. Conversations that cannot be part of a historical record are repeated word-for-word.
