Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Long but great!
Revisado: 09-13-17
I watched the series first and wanted to see the differences between the books and show. As for the first book/season one, there really was not much of a difference between the two. If there was anything not included in the show it was minor and would of been more of a filter than important in my opinion.
Roy Dotrice does a great job at reading the book. Because I watched the series first, I already have a mental image of the characters and their voice. But Mr. Dotrice does a great job reading different characters, changes his voice to distinguish the characters so you're not just listening to one voice the entire 72 chapters. Can't wait to listen to the rest and hope Mr. Dotrice also reads the other books.

Historia
Without women, whiskey may not exist. In Whiskey Women, Wall Street Journal-best-selling author Fred Minnick tells the tales of women who have created this industry, from Mesopotamia's first beer brewers and distillers to America's rough-and-tough bootleggers during Prohibition. Women have long distilled, marketed, and owned spirits companies. These strong women built many iconic brands, including Bushmills, Laphroaig, and Maker's Mark.

Great history lesson of women in distillation
Revisado: 06-13-17
I personally did not care to much for the reader, it was hard at times to stay tuned in, I think his voice would be more suited if it was a reading about wars or "how its made". Despite that...I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was very interesting to know about not just the history and foundations of the distillation process of whisky, but the historical aspects of it and the importance of the role of women, throughout history up to the present, in the whisky industry!

Historia
Its history stretches back almost to the founding of the nation and includes many colorful characters, both well known and obscure, from the hatchet-wielding prohibitionist Carry Nation to George Garvin Brown, who in 1872 created Old Forester, the first bourbon to be sold only by the bottle.

Interesting read about the history of Bourbon

It's not that long of a listen, which is great especially if you tend to get bored easily. I found it be very interesting and informative, at least for me, or for someonewho is looking to know more about whisky.

Excellent book for beginning Whisk(e)y drinkers
Revisado: 02-28-17
This is an excellent book for someone starting out wanting to learn about and tasting whisky. It is very informative. The author does a brief but very informative overview of just about every topic there is to learn about whiskey, from tasting techniques, common terminology, reading labels, distillery process, casks, etc. I opted for the audible version of this book because I tend to spend most of my time driving. However, I will actually be purchasing the text because there is so much information I want to read over as well as recipes to try. The book kept me interested and even further excited me to continue to pursue my knowledge in whiskey.
