Historia
Renée Ballard is working the night beat again and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Revisado: 11-08-18
I tried the Ballard book and did not like character... and this is more a Ballard book then a Bosch one. I just don’t like her character... she holds others to a high standard but the chip on her shoulder is her justification to do anything she wants, with ridiculous results... I’m sad... I love Harry. Too bad he’s not here :(

"The President is Missing" should be missing pages
Revisado: 08-16-18
I just listened to this book on and I wanted to really like it... and at times I did. And then at other times, I wished I had my fast forward button hard-wired to my steering wheel. While efficiently written and very suspenseful in some places, the story is often interrupted for painfully verbose and meandering personal backstory journeys and storyline explanations.
For example, In one passage, when the story discussed the possibility of an attack on the USA, the characters go into so much detail about all the ramifications, I was actually waiting for them to mention an increase in the cost of my car insurance. :)
James Patterson is a rock star. A master of crime, action, and suspense. But maybe working with another writer changes his process somehow, because I found that by the end of this book, I too wanted the president to be missing.

I like Jason. I listen to his podcast. But openly this book which he slaved over for "a number of months", is as much ad for his investment syndicate, as it is a guide.
I did learn a few things, but they were things I could've learned by just listening to his podcast or his book promotion materials. I wanted this to be awesome... but the period where he made his biggest moves was long ago in the market conditions are wildly different.
It's not awful… But it's not too useful

Revisado: 11-05-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It's an interesting read but in the book he talks about checklists but of course they are not included... I love audiobooks but I'm tired of feeling like a second-class citizen when it comes to attachments :(
Would you be willing to try another book from Chris Voss? Why or why not?
Maybe later...
Which scene was your favorite?
It's not a work of fiction but I enjoyed the examples of his use of negotiating techniques.
Did Never Split the Difference inspire you to do anything?
I will absolutely try some of these techniques.

Historia
The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Light read; with Grisham comfortable in his lane.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have. Overall, I enjoyed his take on the far less glamorous side of law; Ambulance Chasing. True to his usual form, the main legal character ends up being a moral hero. Still, I found the book engaging and entertaining - I think John Grisham could write a book about sanding a desk and I would like it. Fun read.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Litigators?
One of the main story lines in the book is about a massive Tort case; it was interesting to read his take on one of the many ways these cases can be handled, so to speak.
Which scene was your favorite?
I liked the scene where David joins the
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This book did not really have many emotional aspects; it was mostly an entertaining read...

David Novak learned long ago that you can't lead a great organization of any size without getting your people aligned, enthusiastic, and focused relentlessly on the mission. But how do you do that? There are countless leadership books, but how many will actually help a Taco Bell shift manager, a Fortune 500 CEO, a new entrepreneur, or anyone in between? Over his 15 years at Yum! Brands, Novak has developed a trademarked program he calls Taking People with You.

I would like to recommend this book... but can't.
Revisado: 01-30-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I have no idea... perhaps someone who has not read many popular books on management.
Has Taking People With You turned you off from other books in this genre?
Probably - I am pleased with the success of the Authors company, but the narrative was the same one I have read in countless other books of the same genus; Gee aren't we cool?! We just figured out if we work together with the idiots that report to us, we can actually do better as a company... I am sooo clever. In a future book, the Author will explain how he cleverly skirted US tax laws by moving the company HQ off-shore... or did they already? Please.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sean Pratt?
He was fine.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Taking People With You?
Hard to say... I probably would have removed the words and replaced them with pretty pictures.... there would be more value added.
Any additional comments?
I think I nailed it.
