Good Story with Novel Ideas for Sci-fi!
Revisado: 02-11-16
If you could sum up The Great Symmetry in three words, what would they be?
Implications of Information
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lobek. Even though he was the antagonist, he was a very well portrayed character.
What does Mitchell Lucas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Good change of voices. His way of speaking as Axiom was much appreciated and fit the character well.
Any additional comments?
The parable of the tree that Axiom told was very well done. Very poetic and thematic for the whole story and a great microcosm of capitalism and exploitation of natural resources.

I felt pretty good about the ending.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Increased speed of talking during parts of intensity.

The emotions of each character. Surprise, terror, etc.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Sometimes the voice actors would change for certain characters (e.g. Vladimir Harkonnen) which made some of the plot hard to follow at times.

Survive the end of the world with a twist...
Revisado: 12-08-15
What made the experience of listening to For Us the Living: Judgment Day the most enjoyable?
The tough guy attitudes in the army half of the book, especially their witticisms. Very true to an action movie from the late 90s.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The mystery of what was actually going on. The least interesting was probably the father/step daughter part.
Who was the most memorable character of For Us the Living: Judgment Day and why?
Probably sergeant Walker. Strong female character with a kickass attitude.

Read like a good traditional scary movie!
Revisado: 12-07-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this audiobook because the voice performance was well done. The many accents and changes of tone helped paint the characters as individuals. The story was actually pretty unique for one in the traditional horror genre, and the convergence of several characters to the final conclusion was exciting.
What about Darren Marlar’s performance did you like?
Yes. Well done.
If you could take any character from Inside the Mirrors out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Haha. The Grim (kidding). Probably ol' Coolidge. Figure he'd be hungry and would have some great stories.
Any additional comments?
In general, it was an easy listen, fun, and pretty creepy at times.

Entertaining and insightful
Revisado: 11-06-15
Would you listen to SIMPOC again? Why?
I would definitely listen to SIMPOC again. The story is inherently interesting: a thinking computer learning stuff about the world. The novel goes in unexpected directions one after another.
What was one of the most memorable moments of SIMPOC?
One of the most memorable moments was when Alpha was turned on and was interested in seeing and communicating with humans.
Have you listened to any of Zachary Johnson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't, but would like to. It was more of an audio play than an audiobook. The robots in unison was superb.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My extreme reaction was non stop listening and interest!
Any additional comments?
Very interesting to a cognitive science major like myself!

Historia
The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family’s tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.

Gripping
Revisado: 11-03-15
Where does The Poisonwood Bible rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
One of the best audiobooks I've listened to so far. One narrator with subtle changes to differentiate between characters. Perfect for sisters and their mother.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Poisonwood Bible?
The different ways each of the sisters describe the same situation is compelling. Especially when Ruth May is involved near the end.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Adah speaks to her mother who is clutching Ruth May and asks for Help.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. Too many to count.
Any additional comments?
The thematic content of this novel is amazing. I feel like it is a great counter-thesis to Joseph Conrad's The Heart of Darkness.
