Ever since she was young, Julie Klam has been fascinated by the Morris sisters, cousins of her grandmother. According to family lore, early in the 20th century the sisters’ parents decided to move the family from Eastern Europe to Los Angeles so their father could become a movie director. On the way, their pregnant mother went into labor in St. Louis, where the baby was born and where their mother died.

Unless you're from New York City and/or Jewish and/or related to this author and/or really interested in genealogical research, this story is probably not for you. It's really not very interesting and could probably be told in much less time.

If you liked Lord of the Rings you'll love this book. I'm amazed by the authors creativity and imagination in developing this world and all it's many cultures. The story is well written and the performance is incredible! you will not be disappointed you've given it a try. I'm very sad it's over.

Painfully beautiful
Revisado: 07-25-19
Heart wrenching and a perfect portrait of the Carolina Coast. Owens paints with her words. I Could. Not. Put. It. Down. So many emotions experienced in one book. I felt like Kya was my friend and truly didn't want the story to end.

Enjoyed the first few chapters. It kept me guessing for a while. Once the mystery was revealed I couldn't find a single character to sympathize with. The ending was uneventful.

Mediocre at best
Revisado: 07-27-17
What was most disappointing about B. A. Paris’s story?
It's completely unbelievable how amazingly stupid the main character is. I found myself frequently shaking my head and yelling at my radio as I listened.
What aspect of Georgia Maguire’s performance would you have changed?
I enjoyed listening to Georgia's voice and her accent certainly added a little geographic legitimacy but sometimes i found it a little annoying. She seemed to make Grace even more stupid and naive as well as stuck up.
Any additional comments?
The story line is interesting, but probably could have been written by a teenager. Not very complex.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Revisado: 06-01-17
This book is exactly what I needed at this point in my life. It's humorous and down-to-earth and real. Basically it's about learning how to prioritize where you direct your emotional energy. Manson uses real life examples that are very relatable. Wayne has a great speaking voice and uses different tones and accents. He makes the listening so enjoyable. I highly recommend!

Best story I've heard in a very long time!
Revisado: 04-07-17
Moriarty does such a fantastic job of defining each character. The story is so well thought out and each event and thought is so well described. I kept thinking how the characters sounded like people I know and how believable the whole thing is. I was thoroughly engrossed and enjoyed the everything about it start to finish.

It's Meh
Revisado: 02-13-17
Overall the story line is an interesting concept but it drags on and on. There are several places in the dialogue where one character will make a comment, the 2nd character will ask "what?" Then the first character will repeat himself. It's almost as though there was a requirement for a specific word count and the author was having a hard time reaching it. The way it was worded was extremely verbose at times and I frequently lost track of who was speaking and what they were talking about.
As for the narrators, the male voice was quite talented. He did a great job of emphasizing the emotions in the moment. The female voice however was over done. She had this raspy yearning to her voice that made everything, even the most mundane circumstances seem too dramatic to bear. I didn't care for her performance.

It's Eh...
Revisado: 01-24-17
The story line certainly kept my attention, but moved slowly at times. The narrators were easy to understand but completely lacked emotion. Their interpretation of the male characters especially were flat and emotionless. For such an emotionally charged story I expected to be moved yet never really felt engaged. The ending is anti-climactic. There is no fowl language or overly descriptive sex scenes however and would or be a decent story if listening with children present.
