I like this series

I like this series. I downloaded the first book because the main character was a knitter with a yarn shop, but it isn’t prominent as a theme. The characters are engaging, and the stories are good. I am looking forward to the fourth book, which hasn’t been released yet.

May be good for beginners

This audible book has catchy music behind the rhythmically spoken words which helps memorization. However, the words are random and have little relevance to each other except that they are specific parts of speech.

I am an learning at a lower intermediate level (A2/B1), and am not finding a whole lot to increase my vocabulary. I’d prefer to have a selection of words pertaining to a particular subject, say music or television or sports.

Thrilled to see Costain's series on Audible BUT...

I have loved the Plantagenet saga from Thomas B Costain since I was a child, so I was happy to see them offered on Audible. However, the narrator's voice is so *affected*, it is difficult to enjoy this classic. It puts me in a quandary as to whether to purchase the next three books. I am very disappointed in the reader, but not in the book itself. The book itself is delightful, bringing personality to what may have otherwise been stale old history.

This is an even-handed look at Trump’s White House. It is based on interviews with staffers and cabinet-level members. It is not slanted, it is fact. Just fact, no spin. Read it.

A lovely book, punctuated by comments from cast members and others involved with the film. Elwes also does terrific imitations of his associates, a talent I hadn’t known he had. So get this! Get the lowdown! Have a magical time all over again!

For Mornington Crescent Fans only

I was all ready to enjoy a few excerpts of Mornington Crescent games from various "Clue" episodes. Instead, it was a collection of stories about the game itself, or based on the stations in the game. As much as I love "Clue" and British humor, this just didn't amuse me.

Not consistent

What aspect of Pimsleur’s performance would you have changed?

I find that the Russian speakers are not consistent in their pronunciations. A word will be broken down, the last syllable being a "oo" sound, and then when the word is put back together, the ending is "oh" or "ah". A question is intoned differently in Russian, but one example sounds much more like the way an English question would be pronounced than the previous examples had demonstrated. I like the way the course is structured, but the speakers just don't seem precise. If there is some reason the pronunciation changes, I'd like to know why. I'm not sure that I am going to buy the next set of lessons.
