Historia
Raina Bretton is a rag woman in London's East End when a handsome stranger appears in a dank alley and offers her a glittering smile and a chance for adventure. Rothburne Abbey has a unique position for her, one that will take her away from her hardscrabble life and give her a chance to be a lady. Things she could only dream of might be coming true. But some dreams turn out to be nightmares. Though Raina has traded squalor for silk and satin, something about the abbey is deeply unsettling.

To much over explaining
Revisado: 03-14-24
I understand the book was a love story. I still found it annoying how much the main character’s feelings and beliefs about god were explained over and over again. It seemed unnecessary and made the book drag on.

Historia
Young Josiah Paddock, on the run from his past in St. Louis, didn’t have much hope of survival. Winter was coming to the Rockies, and if the cold cutting through his city clothes didn’t kill him, grizzlies or Indians would. Then his luck turned. He stumbled across the trail of Ol’ Scratch, a solitary mountain man eager enough for company to take the brash youngster under his wing.

Loved the story but…
Revisado: 02-17-23
Some of the language was really hard for me to listen too at times. I understand this is historical fiction, and that’s most likely the way people spoke at the time but it was still very uncomfortable to hear so much use of the N-word, and other derogatory terms. Overall, the story was great and hard to put down. I listened to it all in 2 weeks.

One of the best audio books I’ve ever listened to
Revisado: 10-19-19
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read. Beautifully written, but be prepared for a heart wrenching story. Sadly the last book was not finished so it leaves you hanging.
The performance, by the narrator, was outstanding. Overall the entire book(s) was excellent. Wish I knew the ending .

Well Done!
Revisado: 10-10-17
I loved the story. It only took me a week to fish it. I though the narration was well done. I have to admit I cried at the end. I would definitely recommend this book.
