Unique story, meaning of life in it
Revisado: 03-09-24
Not the first time alien form was -spider form but a unique long term evolution. It is tempting to compare women’s place in human society and male place in the spider but they are not comparable and the book gets you to think within yourself in such contrasting ways. The ending is not a crescendo but satisfying.

Important story
Revisado: 11-06-23
If you can get through the first reader it gets better. I like historical fiction. This author struggled to give people/characters descriptions and backgrounds but still wanting to remain a historical accounting rather than a novel. The format is odd but overall delivers an important story without conveniently finishing off loose ends as is real life. There is another version on audible with different readers and I was tempted to return this version and get that one but I liked the way the second reader put life into the characters with his gruff voice that matched them and he kept me going with this version.

The second Dune installment explores new developments on the planet Arrakis, with its intricate social order and strange, threatening environment. Dune Messiah picks up the story of the man known as Muad'Dib, heir to a power unimaginable, bringing to fruition an ambition of unparalleled scale: the centuries-old scheme to create a superbeing who reigns not in the heavens but among men. But the question is: DO all paths of glory lead to the grave?

Bear with the narration
Revisado: 07-22-22
I loved Dune. I am into sci fi and philosophy. This world of Dune which brings out wide thinking and would make good book club reads is great and the ultimate story in this Dune Messiah is also appropriate. But there are some extreme leaps of faith and incomplete ideology to support the premise of what happens. The narration finally makes it so jarring that even for Dune fans it is a let down. I hope they re-do it with a single main narrator. If I had the time and for other readers if you want to keep with the series I recommend just picking up the book and reading it rather than the audible version!

Summoning her four adult children to her private island, she discloses shocking news: in addition to having a terminal illness, she has arranged for the news of her death to break early, so she can read obituaries lauding her work. Instead, her "death" reveals devastating secrets she thought she had buried forever.

Overall story line was interesting. Doesn’t really transport you into a different world. Clever in how it is set to use current decade in it. Performance though made me stop and read some reviews , glad I finished it. The voice always sounds exasperated in multiple characters! I see sick people all the time as my job, they don’t go around sounding exasperated all the time. Give it a try though
