When retired math teacher Grace Winters is left a run-down house on a Mediterranean island by a long-lost friend, curiosity gets the better of her. She arrives in Ibiza with a one-way ticket, no guidebook and no plan. Among the rugged hills and golden beaches of the island, Grace searches for answers about her friend’s life, and how it ended. What she uncovers is stranger than she could have dreamed. But to dive into this impossible truth, Grace must first come to terms with her past.

A story to hear
Revisado: 09-15-24
Joanna Lumley should be required to narrate every audible book! The words by Matt Haig were made even more delectable by Ms Lumley. A fan of Mr Haig’s Midnight Library narration took this story to a new level.

They have a baby, Charles, but Laura's husband returns home from the trenches a damaged man, already ill with the tuberculosis that will soon leave her a widow. Patrick Gale at his best!
Revisado: 03-12-22
As an avid reader of Gales since Aerodynamics of Pork, I look forward to his new writing with mounting anticipation. And to his credit, he does not disappoint. Weaving, acerbic wit and Cornish charm, his writing is thought provoking and oddly comforting.

Mystical pre-Celtic statues are hidden somewhere on mist-wreathed Dove Island. Now Mitch is tearing out to the coast in the hope of reaching the saints before his treacherous ex can stake a claim. At his side is his devoted assistant, Owen. Owen adores Mitch, but he's the quiet, loyal type.

Not Harper’s best
Revisado: 09-29-20
“Sunbeam” “bouncing like a cork”. Both used in other novels. As a fan of her work this unfortunately appeared to be a phone in. There was a disconnect with the images and voice of narrator. Tim Gilbert is fine but images used for promotion don’t fit. Character development - I found compassion for none. I do look forward to better stories because Harper does them.- Seven Summer Nights and Brothers of the North Sea.
