It is a sugary sweet overly contrived story of a disaffected woman who hates Christmas and her high-school sweetheart who both ended up back in their holiday-loving small hometown by mysterious means.

this is the kind of story that makes it possible for people to denigrate romance novels. it is also the kind of story that makes many love romance novels.

this book does and it is hilarious. I can't imagine a better way for this plot to have worked out, and I usually have something to knit pick about every book. It's perfection.

Dismissive of Abused women's trauma

The story is the normal unrealistically cute love at first sight kinda tale that would be perfect, if the writer hadn't made the abuse survivor female protagonist willing to quickly dismiss and/or forgive the type of pushy over-bearing and disrespectful actions that are clear signs of a potentially abusive partner that the male protagonist did during the story, and THEN after another episode of abuse, easily bouncing back and agreeing to a long term relationship with said male protagonist.

It undermines the reality the kinds of trauma cause by such abusive relationships, the issues of survivors becoming revictimized because they refuse to see the signs, and the struggle that couples go through when one of them has been abused.

The story was so good that I figured out who the killer was only minutes before the cops did, and without some of the clarifying info at the end, I would never have been sure. I wouldn't have wanted to be in the audience that night, but if I had been, it would have been the show of a lifetime!

A children's book for adults

I thought that I was going to listen to a simple children's book just to relax. Instead, I listen to the Memoirs of a 21 year old 11 year old cool through repeating his life again and again games wisdom that anyone of any age can benefit from.

That said the recording could have used some editing.

If you are looking for literary fluff, this is perfect,. The plot is almost good, and the sexual tention is well written, but don't look for excellence on any level.
