Too Dark
Revisado: 12-08-20
I did not like this last book, unfortunately. There are too many monsters. The first two were more to my liking.

Wish the narrator had practiced accents a little
Revisado: 10-11-18
The story is fun and an easy listen. Unfortunately, the narrator doesn't have very good accents for the Russian and Irish characters. Perhaps that changes in the books that follow. Still enjoyed the story.

Ends abruptly
Revisado: 04-18-18
Interesting ideas to work with. The recording ends abruptly though. Doesn’t even have the “Audible hopes you have enjoyed this program” at the end. Makes me wonder if I didn’t get the entire download.

Enter another world when you walk onto the diamond
Revisado: 07-05-16
Though I'm not a huge fan of baseball, I love this story for the journey into a world of farishers, were-beings (were-fox), Sasquatch, shaggards and of course, Coyote! It also has a young girl as one of the main characters who is strong and capable. Chabon also takes you into the camp of the "Big Liars" which took me back to the tall tales I grew up on. I love this story and have listened to it four times. I will probably listen again without question!

Atwood never fails to please
Revisado: 12-26-11
Would you listen to Alias Grace again? Why?
Atwood's ability to both probe the experience of the senses and the psyche makes Alias Grace a great listen. I feel like I'm in the skin of each character. Those who know and love Atwood, like me, may wonder at how she is able to so deftly become each person in her story. The setting seems so accurate and well done, that I can picture the various scenes and can see myself in Toronto at that time.
As reader, Elizabeth McGovern does a terrific job of giving voice to the characters in this audiobook. Not to give the plot away, but McGovern's skill at relating events at the end gave me chills and actually spooked me a bit!
I highly recommend this audiobook.
What did you like best about this story?
The intensely rich quality of Atwood's prose and her ability to use the rhythm of language to tell an engaging story.
Which character – as performed by Elizabeth McGovern – was your favorite?
Grace
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The climax of the story was fascinating and satisfying.
Any additional comments?
I hope Aubible continues to make Atwood accessible. I have a new interest in exploring other Canadian authors. I plan on looking for McGovern as a reader for other audiobooks - she is truly delightful to listen to.
