Historia
London, 1772: a young artist called Thomas Rowlandson is making his way through the grimy backstreets of the capital, on his way to begin his studies at the Royal Academy Schools. Within a few years, James Gillray and Isaac Cruikshank would join him in Piccadilly, turning satire into an artform, taking on the British establishment, and forever changing the way we view power. Set against a backdrop of royal madness, political intrigue, the birth of modern celebrity, French revolution, American independence and the Napoleonic Wars, UPROAR! follows the satirists as they lampoon those in power.

While a bit lose at times, this book is a fantastic look back at a lost generation and the lost art of satire.

This one is thrill pretty much from the start
Revisado: 10-29-23
This book has several twists and turns. This is the most intense of the series so far, so be prepared not to want to put it down/stop listening.
The story does a great job of intermingling the thrill of the investment with the relational dynamics between Strike and Robin. Be prepared for a rollercoaster.

Historia
If the Bible isn’t a science book or an instruction manual, then what is it? What do people mean when they say the Bible is inspired? When Rachel Held Evans found herself asking these questions, she began a quest to better understand what the Bible is and how it is meant to be read. What she discovered changed her—and it will change you too.
Drawing on the best in recent scholarship and using her well-honed literary expertise, Evans examines some of our favorite Bible stories and possible interpretations, retelling them through memoir, original poetry, short stories, soliloquies, and even a short screenplay. Undaunted by the Bible’s most difficult passages, Evans wrestles through the process of doubting, imagining, and debating Scripture’s mysteries. The Bible, she discovers, is not a static work but is a living, breathing, captivating, and confounding book that is able to equip us to join God’s loving and redemptive work in the world.

Hermeneutics for people that don't use the word

Fantastic book for those who struggle
Revisado: 01-14-23
As someone who struggles with the church and biblical interpretation, this is an excellent book. It sheds new light on some of the Bible’s darker elements. I enjoyed the retelling of specific biblical stories. It brought them to life again.
I think the critics of this book miss the Author’s ultimate point of the ability of Jesus to reach out to the marginalized. While her views are more “liberal” compared to those who prefer a literal or Scalia-esque view of biblical interpretation, I believe her ultimate point is there is room for all. That what matters is what brings people to Jesus.

Excellent book for those struggling with “Biblical” roles
Revisado: 12-13-22
This is an excellent book. I would highly recommend it to anyone who struggles with defining roles. It’s a very balanced approach to the research highlighting multiple viewpoints. The real life stories and the portions of “Dan’s Journal” provide levity and beauty to this book. I would encourage both men and women to read this book to see another side of what is often portrayed as the Bible’s limiting scriptures.

Good book
Revisado: 08-03-16
This was a very good book. The narrator was excellent. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it starts a little slow. Otherwise the plot was good. This book also provides and accurate look into the world of domestic violence and it's far reaching impact.

Rupert didn't especially want to be a prince. And he certainly never asked to be the second son of a royal line that really didn't need a spare. So he was sent out to slay a dragon and prove himself - a quest straight out of legend. But he also discovered the kinds of things legends tend to leave out, as well as the usual demons, goblins, the dreaded Night Witch - and even worse terrors hidden in the shadows of Darkwood. Rupert did find a fiery dragon - and a beautiful princess to rescue.
