Loved the story. Wish I could have got the full version though. The condensced version did not do it justice.

Historia
Joan Rivers is a groundbreaking, award-winning, internationally renowned entertainment goddess. She’s also opinionated - especially when it comes to people she hates. Like people who think giving birth is a unique achievement. Or well-adjusted - a.k.a. boring - ex-child stars who don’t even have a decent addiction. With all of her diverse experiences, it stands to reason that Joan has seen, done, said, and heard a lot of hateful things. Thank god, she took notes.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Not funny, just old and tired. I love her shows shes witty and smart and in the now. This book might as well be telling mother in law jokes. Sad and embarrassing. I didn't even finish the book. I was really looking forward to it as well. Wasted my money don't waste yours.

Any additional comments?
All over the workd women are not doing house work, not picking up the kids form school beacuse they're hiding reading this book with their legs crossed. I'm no prude but I didn't like the S and M content and couldn'tget past the violence to women fantasy or not. If your fantasy is this sort of thing go for it you will love it.

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

Disappointing book highjacked by boys with guns.
Revisado: 03-10-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Streotypical American rubbish. Why would humans facing the end be at war with each other? look what happens all over disasters bring out the best in people. Just another paranoid dissapointing end of the world book.
Should be recommended for teenage boys.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
expected.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was terrible. Would have been fine if he had just narrated but the voices especially those of the women: making them all pathetic and whiney.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No I would have seen it a 100 times already.
Any additional comments?
Great idea, good beginning unfortunately high-jacked by cannibalism and mayhem and other ridiculousness.

Historia
This national best-seller chronicles the true story of two brothers coming of age in the Henry Horner public housing complex in Chicago. Lafeyette and Pharoah Rivers are 11 and nine years old when the story begins in the summer of 1987. Living with their mother and six siblings, they struggle against grinding poverty, gun violence, gang influences, overzealous police officers, and overburdened and neglectful bureaucracies. Immersed in their lives for two years, Kotlowitz brings us this classic rendering of growing up poor in America’s cities.

Sad disturbing tale of life in the projects.
Revisado: 02-13-12
Would you consider the audio edition of There Are No Children Here to be better than the print version?
It 's hard to say. I would imagine they would be much the same.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Pretty desperate and sad. Like watching a train wreck. disturbing.
Any additional comments?
The language is embarrassingly flowery. So many clichés and trite descriptions. Yet despite this the story is fantastic. So glad I perservered despite the terrible writing style. This true story of a family growing up in the projects: It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. How can the brothers survive? and if they do survive will they ever get out of that place? Or are they doomed to be like everyone else?
How could this happen in America and who's responsible?

Beautifully crafted flawless.
Revisado: 02-01-12
What did you love best about The Help?
Loved the voices, the accents, the story, the plot and best of all the characters. Can't think of the last time I read a book of fiction that I enjoyed as much as this. Beautifully crafted and flawless. I was Transported back in time. I was there in the Avalenes kitchen hearing her telling me the story.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The fantastic expressive voices make this book the best. felt they were the real people telling me their stories.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed and cried and couldn't sop talking in a southern accent at the end.
