Historia
The tragic story of Susan Powell and her murdered boys, Charlie and Braden, is the only case that rivals the Jon Benet Ramsey saga in the annals of true crime. When the pretty, blonde Utah mother went missing in December of 2009 the media was swept up in the story - with lenses and microphones trained on Susan's husband, Josh. He said he had no idea what happened to his young wife, and that he and the boys had been camping in the middle of a snowstorm.

Interesting and Sad
Revisado: 07-11-24
Well written, and a heart wrenching story. Great research and factual representation of events told on a good time-line. The unemotional drone of the narrators voice is a bit off putting, but it's still a worthwhile listen. My heart breaks for the Coxes, who lost so much! I truly hope that they will receive the peace they so richly deserve.

Historia
"In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I dont think of myself as a victim. I survived...."

An Amazing Nod to the Resiliency of the Human Spirit
Revisado: 06-30-24
A terrifying ordeal through the eyes of the victim! Well written and wonderfully narrated, Jaycee may be one of the strongest survivors I've ever heard about. A wonderful woman who survived the most tragic event that can happen to a young girl. Truly inspiring for other kidnapping victims, Jaycee is absolutely remarkable. I'm in awe of her, her strength to survive and to flourish despite the horror she endured for so long. I appreciated that she narrated her own story, it adds extra depth to her story. Hearing the optimism and sunshine in her voice makes me, a total stranger whose never met her, feel so proud of her! She lends credence to the statement "we are not bodies with souls; rather, we are souls with bodies." Stunning soul! Definitely worth the read.

Historia
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

Well Written, Factual, Easy to Follow, and A Great Narrator
Revisado: 06-30-24
Compassionately written with respect for the murder victims and the involved children. Informative and factual, with a heartbreaking tale of what a truly evil mother can do to her own children as well as others she claims to love. The 3 daughter's are amazing survivors that should have broken but didn't. An exceptional glimpse into the actions of a true psychopath and even rarer; a female serial killer. Great narration, clear and pleasant reading that's easy to understand. Definitely worth the read!

Well Researched and Read
Revisado: 06-11-24
The facts were solid, and the research impeccable. I learned more from this than I has from reading media articles. I wish there was a memorial at Lake Vermillion for Lorisa Dumansky, as she lay undiscovered for so long that the site should be marked in her honor (with NO MENTION of the MONSTER who took her life.) The only flaw in the narration was the mispronounciation of "PIERRE" South Dakota, but unfortunately you have to be local to know the correct pronunciation. The writing was impressive, as it gave facts that expressed the horror of the ladies torture and murder, without going into unnecessary detail. Very respectfully written! A 5 star read.

Paul Bernado and Karla Homolka were so perfectly iconic as a newlywed couple that they were dubbed "Ken and Barbie". But their marriage had a dark side involving sex, death, and videotape. The "perfect couple" first raped and murdered Karla's little sister then kidnapped teenage schoolgirls whom they enslaved, raped, tortured, and killed while gleefully recording themselves on video doing it.

Nice Narration
Revisado: 03-10-24
Starts off dry with unnecessary background of the killers parents lives, but good information about the case and background of the killers. Pretty graphic direct quotes that paint a gruesome word picture of the crimes. Informative about the conclusion of the case. Was worth the listen!

I have a newfound respect for this man!
Revisado: 02-23-24
I always liked Matthew Perry on FRIENDS, but I didn't truly appreciate what an amazing actor he really was. For him to be going through all the big terrible things he was going through and to still put on such an amazing performance!? Both on the screen and in his day to day life? Astounding. He was broken and whole at the same time, and his depth and resilience is astonishing. I am so sorry he died the way he did, because he was afraid to die. But at the same time; I think he wouldn't have wanted his death to have happened any other way. I only wish he could have been a husband and father, as it really is the one thing he longed for and never achieved. I mourn his dying, and I mourn his living. And I hope, when he walked into that kitchen in Heaven, it was everything he ever wanted. What a down to earth, good guy. Thank you for all the great memories, Mattman. Could you BE anymore deserving of a happily ever after?
