Good story until the propaganda
Revisado: 12-15-24
Took until the halfway thru the 3rd book to push propaganda. Granted, it was written in 2014, but even then it was well known that we were facing a demographic collapse & that overpopulation was a myth; manmade pollutants in America had already fallen greatly, and we are one of the leaders in reducing pollution in the air & water (China or India would’ve been better locations).
Manmade Climate Change is also unproven, & actual data shows that every hypothesis that was to happen, doesn’t (Hurricanes aren’t stronger, plant life is greener, Arctic caps aren’t losing ice in any irregular way, nor are the reefs dying off).
Shame the author had to push this narrative onto young impressionable minds the way he chose.. Not to mention the Hydrogen.. Author shows that he didn’t really investigate the actual science behind these things.. sigh.
Otherwise, was a decent story- though wouldn’t recommend to under 15yrs old as there are several instances in the 3 books in which it has a 14yr old showering with another girls, being exposed nude in front of another girl, and lusting over a girl in a small red bikini (which is brought up several times; also has several times in which it becomes overly & unnecessarily wordy, which became a distraction (especially starting with the 2nd book)

This series is written much better than last! Excellent!
Revisado: 04-03-24
I almost didn’t purchase this continuation series of The Last Survivors due to the constant over focus on graphic rape, SA, nudity, & the incessant repetition of inner dialogue of various characters, constantly repeating emotions/ anger/ past mistakes/ etc, as well as the use of Catholic imagery (Priests, Bishops, Mass) of one of the worse cohorts in Brighton, though the beliefs & behaviors are clearly not related & such terms (except Mass)/ titles were used in many Pagan beliefs-> most readers would likely have impressions of Catholicism (or Eastern Orthodox) subconsciously. Then the “I am woman, here me roar” extremes in dialogue (rather than simply showing what they could do, the reader was told over & over again during the last battle to save Brighton-> I am a female, & I’m over this push in your face!
However, the main premise of the entire series was unique, & the trio (Bray, Kirby, William) were the most likable, and well written, as well as having read a different series by T.W. Piperbrook which had been extremely well written, I decided to go ahead & give this series a try… thinking that it may have been the other author who was to blame for the failures of the primary series..
I’m glad I did! This series (which can be enjoyed on its own) is far superior! The writing, details, character development, and even how past abuse as well as the perverted intentions of new characters was handled perfectly! A skill of a mature author is the ability to write enough, so the reader understands, while not shoving every specific detail (like it was a court prosecutor sharing detailed evidence of a crime to the jury) in the readers head!

Overly wordy & repetitive, story premise decent
Revisado: 03-29-24
Wish the author didn’t decide to try and do one book for each new movement. He is very repetitive, far too much over explaining & inner dialogue. Shame, as the first several books didn’t do this and were good.

Book 6 is a decent story, but uses a lot of unnecessary descriptions & repetition of already described feelings, internal thoughts

Decent story
Revisado: 03-20-24
Decent enough story to continue to the next book. Narrator could be better, but got used to the narrator pretty quickly.
The rapidness of running into criminals was a bit unbelievable, but most is reasonable enough to being believable.

Historia
The Unincorporated Man is a provocative social/political/economic novel that takes place in the future, after civilization has fallen into complete economic collapse. This reborn civilization is one in which every individual is incorporated at birth and spends many years trying to attain control over his or her own life by getting a majority of his or her own shares. Life extension has made life very long indeed.

Interesting Premise, Incredible Narration/ Voice Actor
Revisado: 08-08-23
The story is unique and an interesting take at what a future economical system could look like, that is believable & has well argued Pro’s & Con’s of this system.
The story is believable, well written, enough intrigue to keep the reader invested, and is advanced in a way that isn’t always clear/ easy to guess what happens next.
Only main complaint is the Mardi Gras scene. It wasn’t necessary. While it is mentioned that this week was a break for wealthy to indulge, the main characters come across as being much more modest & the importance of professional boundaries/ relationships, which was just completely (& very unexpectedly) thrown out the window-> public lewdness/ voyeurism also was not apparent in any part of society prior to this one episode. It seemed like an after thought for the author, or like the author was told to include some public nakedness & sex, as it added nothing to the story & can be completely skipped over w/o losing anything (actually, the reader would gain by doing so, as it reduces the described hinted growing love of 2 characters into being Lustful; & makes the reader have a very different opinion of the main female character, who was all about boundaries & professionalism, to being seen as a vixen).
Other than that portion, the rest of the story is excellent. I have already purchased book 2.

Historia
For his whole life, the boy has lived underground, in a basement with his parents, grandmother, sister, and brother. Before he was born, his family was disfigured by a fire. His sister wears a white mask to cover her burns. He spends his hours with his cactus, reading his book on insects, or touching the one ray of sunlight that filters in through a crack in the ceiling. Ever since his sister had a baby, everyone's been acting very strangely.

Not a predictable story!
Revisado: 04-27-18
Wow! Unlike so many stories today which are fairly easy to guess and predict the future events, this novel kept me guessing!
Do not assume that you know, because you do not.. One reviewer wrote that this was full of misogyny— that reviewer clearly did not read/ listen to the entire novel (though, even reading half should not give an unprejudiced person such thinking).
This is a novel that one must finish, or you will not know the truth!
