Historia
The Resistance is fractured. The remaining survivors are buckling under the might of the malicious Tyrant King. Enter Roark von Graf, hedge mage, lesser noble of Traisbin, and one of the last freedom fighters. Desperate and unhinged, Roark crafts one final attempt to overthrow the king. The plan goes awry, and Roark finds himself tumbling headfirst into an interdimensional portal. On the other side, he finds himself stranded in an unexpected place - an ultra-immersive fantasy video game called Hearthworld.

Interesting take in the genre.
Revisado: 03-19-25
This book reminds me of an old favourite game - Dungeon Keeper, but with more story and interesting characters. The only issue are the vague non-english combat terms used which dampens the impact of the combat.

This book is a teenage soap opera but narration is top quality
Revisado: 02-21-25
The first books had enough plot, danger, dark secrets and plots, but this book is what you would get by listening to stories about teenager summer camps. Friesha is the worst of the lot and tiring to listen to amongst game-like fetch quests dragging the plot along. Worst book in the series so far unless you are looking for a teenage soap opera.

The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss. What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

Disappointing, accept for voice acting
Revisado: 02-16-25
There is story/character progress, but the majority of this book is filler and so much of it is repeated remunerations of the MC. You could just skip this and get the summary later on. I much prefer the previous books, but this one is a waste of money.

Writing and characters conflict
Revisado: 01-29-25
It seems the author is trying real hard to steer the story in a certain direction like the MC is a monarch that must be more careful of his life yet is always goes out alone or is in the thick of the action barely surviving. Then he constantly puts points into INT and WIZ for spells but almost never uses them and relies on Phys weapons but also never trains in them. He also has the BOOM! spell that he can use at will to end fights but again doesn't - it would have made more sense to make it a once-a-day spell. Then the jokes -sigh- everyone (apparently past veteran soldiers) joke around after a fight and then are surprised when an enemy surprises them making the past life aspect of the story null as they don't seem like modern veteran soldiers that keep aware of their surroundings. If you don't take the characters and "rules" seriously, then you can enjoy the book.

A good YA story and characters. Not serious at all.
Revisado: 01-28-25
Good story, but a bit too much like World of Warcraft for a previous soldier, and a bit too corney. The MCs voice can become annoying very quickly when he talks a lot. Deaths in the story are not that impactful for some reason and I can't figure out why.

Very repetitive and poor character choices
Revisado: 01-24-25
These books need a good editor as so much is repeated. Almost every line is filled with unless adjectives and much of the story is told and not represented through characters. The overall arch of the story is great, but you're better off with an author of a higher tier that rereads their drafts. The MC has become indolent, arrogant and a thief while professing to be a proud titan and family centric.

MC seems to be living high on LSD
Revisado: 01-20-25
The story and world building is great, but the the writing is sometimes bogged down in LSD laced verses of what scenery tastes like and the colours of sound. Character thoughts are often repeated over and over again and an 18 year old is leading the team, including his family. This is anime and very very young adult fiction. I fear that the more I listen the more I'll start dreaming in colour and tasting emotions.
Otherwise, it's a good listen to fill a gap in time.

Great narration, but childish MC
Revisado: 11-22-24
The narrator is great, as always, and the world building is good, but the MC is young and will make you cringe each time he makes a decision.

Dumb MC with apparently high Int
Revisado: 11-18-24
The MC is very stupid and clumsy to the point that this book is very frustrating to listen to. The voice acting is amazing though, but wasted on this book.

Tempering system during combat is really stupid.
Revisado: 11-15-24
This series has a great storyline and characters, but is really annoying when tempering has to occur during vital confrontations - oh, let me stop during this important fight to drink a potion because I leveled a skill and disappear into my core. Other than that absurb logic, the storyline is great
