Historia
Joy Candellaro once loved Christmas more than any other time of the year. Now, as the holiday approaches, she is at a crossroads in her life; recently divorced and alone, she can’t summon the old enthusiasm for celebrating. So without telling anyone, she buys a ticket and boards a plane bound for the beautiful Pacific Northwest. When an unexpected detour takes her deep into the woods of the Olympic rainforest, Joy makes a bold decision to leave her ordinary life behind - to just walk away - and thus begins an adventure unlike any she could have imagined.

More, please
Revisado: 11-21-24
This is 1 of those books that I want never to end. I fell head over heels for nearly all of the characters, the way the interacted with each other and the ways they each face difficulty.
The story itself was beautiful and layered.
And so I ask the author, please allow us to follow these characters thru more of there lives. More, please.

Having somehow convinced Lady Annika Jenoure to marry him, all Finlay Ashowan wants to do is settle down, cook some good meals, and enjoy a quiet life in Daxaria. But fate has different plans. After a health scare, 77-year-old Barbara goes to convalesce in the sleepy Somerset village of Winsleigh Green with her sister, Pauline, who is now a widow. The sisters are like chalk and cheese - Barbara, outspoken and aloof and Pauline, good natured and homely - so it’s not long before the tension starts to rise. But when Pauline accidentally knocks down a vagrant who goes by the name of Bisto Mulligan, the ladies find themselves with another houseguest.

Historia
The final novel from a great American storyteller. Donal Cameron is being raised by his grandmother, the cook at the legendary Double W ranch in Ivan Doig's beloved Two Medicine Country of the Montana Rockies, a landscape that gives full rein to an 11-year-old's imagination. But when Gram has to have surgery for "female trouble" in the summer of 1951, all she can think to do is to ship Donal off to her sister in faraway Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

very inspiring
Revisado: 10-30-21
I found this story so inspiring! As an animal lover, I expected the dog in the story to be my favorite part. That relationship was just a wonderful as anticipated. I was surprised and inspired by the way Eric's life was transformed by his adoption of a new lifestyle as well as his adoption of Peety. The way Eric and Peety inspired others and continue to be so, is what truly made this story 1 I would recommend.

Historia
In her latest enchanting novel, New York Times best-selling author Sarah Addison Allen invites you to a quirky little Southern town with more magic than a full Carolina moon. Here two very different women discover how to find their place in the world - no matter how out of place they feel. Emily Benedict came to Mullaby, North Carolina, hoping to solve at least some of the riddles surrounding her mother’s life. Such as, why did Dulcie Shelby leave her hometown so suddenly? And why did she vow never to return?

I loved this book.
Revisado: 10-08-21
I always love SAA's characters. She makes them real and flawed and afraid and so very, very brave. They learn and grow and heal. They help me do the same. I love the magic she weaves into her stories and I love strong sense of place and of coming home, finding home, being home that she always manages to create.
The 1 thing I dislike is that the main characters are always physically beautiful or handsome. Most books do this, so I can't fault SAA for it.
