Historia
Judith Butler, the groundbreaking thinker whose iconic book Gender Trouble redefined how we think about gender and sexuality, confronts the attacks on “gender” that have become central to right-wing movements today. Global networks have formed “anti-gender ideology movements” that are dedicated to circulating a fantasy that gender is a dangerous, perhaps diabolical, threat to families, local cultures, civilization—and even “man” himself. In this book, Butler illuminates the concrete ways that this phantasm of “gender” collects and displaces anxieties and fears of destruction.

Historia
Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

Great listen for the caffeine addict
Revisado: 03-10-20
As a working professional splitting my time between my full-time job and part-time graduate studies, I very much rely on caffeine to plunge ahead through my day-to-day life. When this title came up on my suggestions, I had to give it a listen. I very much enjoyed the author’s exploration of both the cultural history of caffeinated beverages and the science behind what drives us to keep reaching for our favorite caffeinated beverages day after day. I’ve been a daily coffee drinker for the better part of the last decade, and this reaffirmed my commitment to cutting down my daily consumption to one cup of coffee per day. Would definitely recommend to any coffee/tea/caffeine consumer!
