I am a 64-year-old blind musician, I love people, but I don't get to spend as much time with them as I used to. For me, being blind is not darkness, I still have the sense of being able to see because I used to be able to see, and so I am confronted with a relentless fog, a gray fog. There is so much I love about my life, but all of those memories have to do with people, and since the pandemic, the amount of time I get to be with people has diminished significantly. This book, it’s not a book to me, I feel like John is my friend, and he’s speaking through the fog and has given me unexpected, relentless hope, and courage and joy. Nothing I have ever listened to on Audible, or any sermon I can think of, nothing has affected me like this book! Thank you, John Eldridge, thank You Holy Spirit for directing me to this incredible prescription for my mind and my heart, and directing me to not look back but to remember, a lyric I once wrote in a song that says “When I Survey, all the things that you have done, then I anticipate, the goodness yet to come“

Maybe I should write a book. This book does not represent my experience as a person who has been blind for over 50 years. I found many parts of this book to be offensive. I did not finish the book, I didn’t feel like it was worth my time after the first few chapters. Maybe I will write a book. The narrator was very good, it’s just not and account that I would recommend to anyone. I don’t know much about the author, if he is blind, or not, this is a fictional story that I don’t resonate with at all!
