simply excellent on all levels
Revisado: 03-28-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Road Between Us to be better than the print version?
I simply can't say, being a biblio-vore my preferred method of any book is that of being read to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
As the story developed I had more than one favourite character as the novel offered the reader a plethora of values with which the reader could align or identify him or herself with.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to several of Jonathan Keeble's narrations as he is one of my favourite readers but he simply excelled in his faultless narration of this wonderful book
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
indeed I did just that very thing as I couldn't stop listening..... and I was sad when the book ended a sure way of judging a personal winner
Any additional comments?
For anyone who loves a well developed story-line coupled with faultlessly researched details then Nigel Farndale is the writer for you. Farndale also manages to present the reader / listeners with their personal inner dialogues concerning value judgements. I actually sent an email via this writers web page in praise of his writing.

I loved the imperfections of the characters
Revisado: 04-16-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I loved this book because it was about lives created from one the most basic human conditions, that of loneliness.
What did you like best about this story?
The book for me was about human frailty and I particularly loved the very large, older male character, Arthur; his gentlemanly intellect, his insightfullness and kindness toward's others despite his own debilitating loneliness. I loved the way the book ended on a note of hopeful expection for all.
What does Kirby Heyborne and Keith Szarabajka bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration of this book was wonderful, but the voice given to the older man was absolutely outstanding.
Who was the most memorable character of Heft and why?
The most memorable character Arthur, I was left thinking about him long after I'd finished the book.
Any additional comments?
Heft was a book with extraordinary insight into loneliness and survival. I wish audible had more books by the same author

Historia
The Sheltering Sky is a landmark of 20th-century literature, a novel of existential despair that examines the limits of humanity when it touches the unfathomable emptiness of the desert. Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, Requiem for a Dream) gives masterful voice to this American classic.

A flawless narration of Paul Bowles finest books
Revisado: 03-16-13
Would you consider the audio edition of The Sheltering Sky to be better than the print version?
I consider Jennifer Connelly narration of this book to be the highest honour one could give to the genius of writer Paul Bowles
Who was your favorite character and why?
Both of the main characters of the book were well so well portrayed each were equally believable
Have you listened to any of Jennifer Connelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I would read anything Jennifer Connelly narrates she is one of the finest female narraters I have listened to
If you could take any character from The Sheltering Sky out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I would rather go to on a trip to the desert [than out to dinner] with either of the main characters
Any additional comments?
Jennifer Connellys narration of this book was like pouring honey over the sophisticated prose of Paul Bowles to make the passages sound as smooth as silk

Historia
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye.

Which character – as performed by Jim Broadbent – was your favorite?
I really liked the main character

Historia
In 1955, former nightclub manageress Ruth Ellis shot dead her lover, David Blakely. Following a trial that lasted less than two days, she was found guilty and sentenced to death. She became the last woman to be hanged in Britain, and her execution is the most notorious of hangman Albert Pierrepoint's 'duties'. Despite Ruth's infamy, the story of her life has never been fully told. Often wilfully misinterpreted, the reality behind the headlines was buried by an avalanche of hearsay.
