Fiercely recommend
Revisado: 03-09-24
Best fantasy series I’ve listened to in years. The world building, complexity of character, and intricacies of the magical system, put it right up there with classics like Lord of the Rings, or modern series like Game of Thrones and Kingkiller Chronicles.

Historia
The Curious Case of the Pheromonophone is an audio story that takes you on an irreverent, true-life adventure with one of Silicon Valley’s successful failed inventors - Jonathon Keats. A philosopher, an inventor and an artist, Keats has been inventing janky contraptions for over two decades, like a factory you can control with your mind and an emotionally responsive car. In this story he debuts one of his new inventions, what he calls a“pheromonophone” - a kind of smell telephone that can send your personal scent over digital networks.

Fun story of a brilliant, oddball inventor
Revisado: 12-02-20
Great relationship development between characters, and certainly thought provoking. The only thing I couldn’t buy into is that the main character all along had some long term, master plan as a purely altruistic disruptor. It seems much more likely that he flies by the seat of his pants as every thought emerges from his brain.

Historia
In 1929, in the blue-collar city of Portsmouth, Ohio, a company built a swimming pool the size of a football field; named Dreamland, it became the vital center of the community. Now, addiction has devastated Portsmouth, as it has hundreds of small rural towns and suburbs across America - addiction like no other the country has ever faced. How that happened is the riveting story of Dreamland.

A harrowing tale of exploiting modern America’s attitudes of entitlement
Revisado: 02-11-20
High quality journalism chronicling the concomitant rise of the black tar heroin trade and the opioid prescription pill epidemic in the United States. The different characters and stories are interesting, but difficult to follow in a logical order from chapter to chapter.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

If I didn't have OCD I would have quit listening
Revisado: 09-15-17
Two types of people should read this novel:
1) those who grew up in the 80s and want continuous pop culture references of when they peaked in life.
2) those who enjoy painfully awkward teenage romances and dorky, unoriginal cliché humor.
