Very relaxing. Chapter 2 was a big help. I liked that I could try each chapter.

Chapter 6 was like being inside a beehive. It was a little nerve-wracking and made me itch.

I enjoyed this production. It was like listening to a radio drama from back in the 30’s or 40’s.

Historia
When Lewis Barnavelt, an orphan, comes to stay with his Uncle Jonathan, he expects to meet an ordinary person. But he is wrong. Uncle Jonathan and his next-door neighbor, Mrs. Zimmermann, are both witches! Lewis is thrilled. At first, watching magic is enough. Then Lewis experiments with magic himself and unknowingly resurrects the former owner of the house: a woman named Serenna Izard. It seems that Serenna and her husband built a timepiece into the walls - a clock that could obliterate humankind. And only the Barnavelts can stop it!

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

History Made Gigglicious
Revisado: 02-23-20
I have never much liked history. It is usually just dry and boring facts. What I enjoyed about this book is the humor that is injected into the history. There were a lot of interesting things I didn't know about the rivalries presented. If history had been taught like this in school, I would have passed with flying colors. As it is, it's never too late to learn. If you enjoy history and especially if, like me, you don't, you will enjoy this book. I am all in for the second book and hope there will be more to come. Thank you, Scott McCormick.

Get Your Coffee...er...Cozy Fix at the Bean Hive
Revisado: 05-15-19
I really enjoyed this cozy. The narrator was very good. The plot was engaging and the characters interesting. My only real complaint is the reading of the recipes at the end of a chapter where its made. It is a little distracting. I don't mind if they want to read the recipe, but may I suggest at the end of the book?

The eternal question of nature vs nurture is at the centre of Dr Diane Buckley’s world. All things old become new again
Revisado: 03-22-19
If you think this is a regular audio book, think again. This is like a radio play. I suppose we would call it a pod play these days. The story is solid and the acting is, too. I enjoyed both. I hope Audible will come up with a few more of these and in other genres, as well.

PLEASE SIR...MAY I HAVE SOME MORE?
Revisado: 04-19-17
What did you love best about Witch Is When the Penny Dropped?
This is the latest audible version of an ongoing series about Jill Gooder, P I...and witch.
What does Hannah Platts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Hannah Platts really brings all these characters to life. When she voices "Grandmar" I can almost see the wart on the end of her nose. She does a 5-star job.
Any additional comments?
I am so enjoying this series and I hope Audible will continue recording them with Ms Platts. For someone like me, a confirmed Potterhead and a sucker for a good murder mystery, this is the best of both worlds. Please Audible, bring us more.

Historia
A runaway international bestseller, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry followed its unassuming hero on an incredible journey as he traveled the length of England on foot—a journey spurred by a simple letter from his old friend Queenie Hennessy, writing from a hospice to say goodbye. Harold believed that as long as he kept walking, Queenie would live. What he didn’t know was that his decision to walk had caused her both alarm and fear. How could she wait? What would she say? Forced to confront the past, Queenie realizes she must write again.

Queenie Comes Clean...
Revisado: 01-03-17
Would you listen to The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy again? Why?
I would definitely listen to it again. This is a companion book to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. I know at some point I will listen to both of them again. Each is inspiring in it's own way.
Any additional comments?
This book is somewhat of a confessional. It is the story of unrequited love and heartbreak; of great sacrifice. Queenie tells her story without being maudlin or morose. Sometimes head-on and sometimes a little hesitant. However, she tells her story with unvarnished honesty and tender care.

Historia
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye.

One of those strangely appealing books...
Revisado: 01-03-17
Where does The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of the top books I've listened to. The story is different than anything I've read and/or listened to in the past. It is quirky, moving, funny, and thought provoking.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Harold, of course, although there are some very interesting characters along the way.
What does Jim Broadbent bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I am a big fan of Mr. Broadbent. He has been in so many different movies that I have enjoyed. He really brought Harold alive, mostly (at least for me) because I can picture him playing Harold in the movie version.
Any additional comments?
This book will take you through an array of emotions. However, this book is mostly about a man who has lost his way and through this "unlikely pilgrimage", finds and saves, not only himself, but his marriage and wife along the way.

Historia
Former English professor Cat Latimer is back in Colorado, hosting writers' retreats in the big blue Victorian she's inherited, much to her surprise, from none other than her carousing ex-husband. Now it's an authors' getaway, but Cat won't let anyone get away with murder. The bed-and-breakfast is open for business, and best-selling author Tom Cook is among its first guests. Cat doesn't know why he came all the way from New York, but she's glad to have him among the quirkier - and far less famous - attendees.

Enjoyable Story - Great Mystery
Revisado: 09-12-16
If you could sum up A Story to Kill in three words, what would they be?
Great new series
What did you like best about this story?
I like the characters and the idea that it is a writer's retreat run by a writer is great. It will be interesting to see how this story develops.
How could the performance have been better?
I'm not quite sure, but I think she would be better suited narrating non-fiction works. Her enunciation is too clipped, her diction too precise, and her inflection in the dialogue ruins the story. I will be reading this one. Susan Boyce does a great job on Ms. Cahoon's other series. I really wish that she could read this one, too. (Or at least, someone with Ms. Boyce's understanding of dialogue.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Because of the narration.
Any additional comments?
Please confine C S E Cooney to nonfiction. I'm sure that is better suited to her talents.
