Enjoyably sci fi romp. There are predictable elements but they are more comfortable than annoying.
Revisado: 04-16-24
I liked the banter. I like the affability of the lead and the Disney like silliness of the AI, Skippy. I liked the band of pirates that our character never really seems in jeopardy because our AI God in the Machine seems to have every magic key to make the adventure seem like falling off a log. And when confronted by similar obstacles the plot dismisses previous solutions seemingly just to add some drama. Skippy carries us onward but there is a curious “why” that isn’t explained yet. Skippy is also suitably in awe of our collective monkey boneheaded cleverness which seems like we are passing some kind of Ancients Test. Why Skippy is bothering with us and interacting the way he is is still not clear.
It’s a relaxing, amusing listen. Like a 1960’s comic.
This is its weakness as well. Adventures are a bit too easily slipped through. Tension is quite tame. I’m enjoying it though.

Tedious writing

This seems to be a laborious first draft. It’s full of repetition, odd plot holes and illogical action.
AI? Generated? Maybe. The thing doesn’t make sense.

Longer than it needs to be, but a pleasant listen
Revisado: 09-14-20
I found this book about twice as long as it needed to be . There seems to be a lot of duplication in battle scenes and character development that was irrelevant to the main narrative..and the characters that were essential were still pretty shallow.
Still, I bought this because it was long and would stay with me a while. I did finish it but I can't say I was sorry it was over.
This was a LOT of work to write but needs a really good editor.
"Twinborning" is an interesting concept
The world building, while a little muddled was clear enough. These are not worlds we haven't seen in hundreds of fantasy adventures nor are they uniquely imagined. I felt I've read bits before, not directly of course, but like enough.
The gazillion characters sort of wandered through their adventures until the last third where the plot finally organized enough to propel them to a conclusion.
If you're looking for a nice long yarn and aren't bothered by the deficiencies, it's certainly worth a look.

A delightful take on the genre. Just quirky enough and full of silly detail to keep you interested. What really sells it is the amazing reader who infuses each character with a unique voice and character.
