Historia
Twenty-three years ago, Maggie D'arcy's family received a call from the Dublin police. Her cousin Erin has been missing for several days. Maggie herself spent weeks in Ireland, trying to track Erin's movements, working beside the police. But it was to no avail: No trace of her was ever found. The experience inspired Maggie to become a cop. Now, back on Long Island, more than 20 years have passed. Maggie is a detective and a divorced mother of a teenager. When the Gardaí call to say that Erin's scarf has been found and another young woman has gone missing, Maggie returns to Ireland.

interesting story but the narrator's voice was TOO young for a middle aged woman. unfortunately that kept getting in the way of the story. It could also have been edited to make it shorter

Historia
Eastern Europe has long been thought of as the "Other Europe", a region rife with political upheaval, shifting national borders, an astonishing variety of ethnic diversity, and relative isolation from the centers of power in the West. It has also been, and continues to be, pivotal in the course of world events. A History of Eastern Europe offers a sweeping 1,000-year tour with a particular focus on the region's modern history.

The Best Yet!!!
Revisado: 03-02-17
I've listened to about a dozen Great Course programs and by far this is the most interesting and well done "book". I knew very little about Eastern Europe and Professor Liulevicius remedied that. The book and history is fascinating; however, saying that, it is also terrifying in the atrocities that occurred there in the past and are just waiting to erupt again. I think this ought to be required reading in high school to make us all aware of how very, very easy it is to take over a country and control it.

Historia
When an intricate old map is found stuffed into the walls of the bistro in Three Pines, it at first seems no more than a curiosity. But the closer the villagers look, the stranger it becomes. Given to Armand Gamache as a gift the first day of his new job, the map eventually leads him to shattering secrets. To an old friend and older adversary. It leads the former Chief of Homicide for the Sûreté du Québec to places even he is afraid to go. But must. And there he finds four young cadets in the Sûreté academy, and a dead professor. And, with the body, a copy of the old, odd map.

Peters and Thorne, a rare combination
Revisado: 05-29-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, most definitely! Ellis Peters' lyrical prose just begs to be read aloud and Stephen Thorne is just the person to do it full justice.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, You don't know the book how the book will end until the last few sentences when Ellis Peters creates her masterful prose.
What about Stephen Thorne’s performance did you like?
He just epitomizes Cadfael and the medieval times in which he lived.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Ellis Peters is one of those rare authors whose work is as good being read aloud as it is reading it. She has a way of expressing deep emotion or action in a few sentences that are extremely effective and as a result, very powerful.

Don't waste a credit
Revisado: 05-29-13
What disappointed you about Whiskey Beach?
I really did not like Abra at all. She goes around trying to "fix" or take care of everyone around her whether they want to be fixed or not....and her Mother a Nobel Peace Prize winner??? Let's get real here. It was hard to relate to Abra.
What could Nora Roberts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Almost seems like someone else wrote the book.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Peter Berkrot?
Rosalyn Landor
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger and boredom. Abra was tedious and a know it all.

Historia
The fairy tale courtship did not turn into a happily-ever-after. Not until her husband dropped dead, that is. He had been horrible enough to Christiana during their short marriage, and she was not going to allow the traditional period of mourning to ruin her sisters' debuts as well. So she decides to put him on ice and go on as if nothing's happened.... Until the real earl appears.

What disappointed you about The Countess?
Really not believable.
What didn’t you like about Sarah Coomes’s performance?
She certainly CAN NOT do other people's voices. She screeches. Where did they find this person?????? Hope she did not quit her day time job.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It was so absurd, it was funny.

BORING and TEDIOUS!
Revisado: 10-02-09
Dan, this wasn't up to the standards that we as your reading public expect. There was no suspense, no thrilling action, and little interest generated in the topic. And Paul Michael, as a reader, NO, NO, NO. There's no "color" in his voice.... a true monotone. I was really disappointed.

Terrific Read
Revisado: 10-04-07
I've just finished Labyrinth and was engrossed through the whole book. Yes, the book IS long, but I had trouble putting it down. I'm fascinated by this period of history and it was very interesting to hear the point of view of the local inhabitants and Cathars. I also thoroughly enjoyed the way Kate Mosse intertwined the two stories and look forward to reading her future books. The narrator also did an excellent job.

Good book, excellent action.....however, this is one book that should not have been abridged...it makes the action a little hard to follow. I've requested the book from the library.
