Historia
In a universe run by corporations, where profit matters more than life, how can an orphan with no skills, no money, and no prospects survive? When Ishmael Wang's mother dies in a senseless accident, he's given a choice: leave the planet on his own, or the company will remove him. To avoid deportation Ishmael finds work as a mess deck attendant on an interstellar freighter.

Not what I was looking for but I’m glad I found it.
Revisado: 07-16-19
While on a search for books that feel like Joss Whedon’s Firefly I came across Quarter Share. On the surface there are similarities but Quarter Share doesn’t feel like Firefly. As it turns out, that’s totally okay. Quarter Share is its own thing. It’s oddly entertaining and engaging while seemingly entirely without a plot. Hmm. I might be wrong about that. You see, I’ve been on a military sci-fi kick for a while so subtlety hasn’t been part of my diet of late. Anyway, I can’t explain why I liked this so much but I did. In fact, I’m already a chapter into Half Share, the sequel.
A note on the narrator’s performance. Solid. That’s how I’d describe it. Christian Rummel is my favorite male narrator but Jeffrey Kafer is no slouch. No obvious mispronunciations, voice characterizations seem to match the characters well, no complaints.
To summarize, this is a slice of life, there are no bad guys to kill or evade. There’s just Ishmael and his crew mates/friends and his oddly compelling journey and I’m totally digging it.

Historia
Captain John "Black Jack" Geary's legendary exploits are known to every schoolchild. Revered for his heroic "last stand" in the early days of the war, he was presumed dead. But a century later, Geary miraculously returns from survival hibernation and reluctantly takes command of the Alliance fleet as it faces annihilation by the Syndics.
Appalled by the hero-worship around him, Geary is nevertheless a man who will do his duty. And he knows that bringing the stolen Syndic hypernet key safely home is the Alliance's one chance to win the war. But to do that, Geary will have to live up to the impossibly heroic "Black Jack" legend.

One Small Gripe
Revisado: 03-07-19
Make that two:
1) The sudden addition of music at chapter 6 was so distracting that I fell out of the story for a bit. Luckily, it doesn’t last. In hindsight, it was as if someone added a soundtrack clip as a demo and forgot to remove it before publication.
2) The word material! Just pronounce it like any other standard English word. Why the eff does the narrator pronounce it as if trying to impress a girl in his sophomore French class?
Other than those small irritations, this was quite enjoyable. I’ll likely buy the next book in the series.

Historia
Dr. Ali Torveau knows just how fragile life can be - she sees death and tragedy every day in the trauma unit. Battling the dark forces of fate is her life's work and she doesn't want or need anything else, certainly nothing as transient as love. Plenty of women try to change her mind, but she never has any trouble saying no. Not until the day firefighter Beau Cross shows up in her ER and sets Ali’s carefully ordered world aflame.

Better in Print
Revisado: 10-12-18
If you’re a Radclyffe regular, this par for the course. It’s not up there with Fated Love but it’s a solid read. Read being the operative word.
No disrespect to Nicole Vilencia, the narrator, but her performance definitely left a lot to be desired. I’ve no idea if a narrator’s performance is guided by a director so I don’t know where to lay blame - and someone should be blamed. Ms. Vilencia’s inflection and/or delivery oftentimes didn’t match the written descriptor or the tone of a line or passage. Additionally, there was very little differentiation between character voices. [Listen to the sample of And Playing the Roll of Herself narrated by Lisa Cordileone for an example of narration done right.]
I think I’ve said enough to get my point across. To say more would just turn this review into a rant.

Historia
Actress Caidence Harris is living her dreams after landing a leading role among the star-studded, veteran cast of Ninth Precinct, a hot new police drama shot on location in glitzy LA. Her sometimes-costar Robyn Ward is magnetic, glamorous, and devastatingly beautiful, the quintessential A-List celebrity on the fast-track to super-stardom. When the two meet on the set of Ninth Precinct, Caid is instantly infatuated but settles for friendship, positive that Robyn is both unavailable and uninterested. Soon Caid sees that all is not as it appears, but can she take a chance and risk her heart when the outcome is so uncertain?

My Favorite Audiobook So Far
Revisado: 08-10-18
I’ll save you reading through the story synopsis that you’ve probably got memorized by now and just tell you that this is my favorite audiobook so far.
The novel itself is top notch but adding Lisa Cordileone’s narration is such a goodness that I can’t think of a comparison to give you.
Just buy the dang thing, listen to the dang thing, and know that you won’t get a dang thing done that day. You’ll spend it listening Lisa Cordileone’s honey-dipped voice and watching the movie her narration creates in your head.
Go on now. You can thank me later.
