A faithful reading
Revisado: 01-22-25
Alas the otherwise excellent narrator mispronounced Wimsey's alias throughout. She did, however, a very good job with the cricket match.

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Fantasy that's bounding for the front of the pack
Revisado: 03-05-12
What did you love best about Hounded?
I love a good fantasy novel, with elements of myth, mystery, magic and mayhem, and this book provides them all. On the premise that the gods are real - yes, ALL of them - and likely to drop in for fruit smoothies at any time that suits them, Kevin Hearne brings lightness, energy, and interest to a narrative that had me from the first thing the dog said. Yup, talking dog. Definitely one of the best characters, but the hero character is also engaging, even if he is a little old for me at two thousand plus
Who was your favorite character and why?
Well, I liked the Morrigan, the Widow, the Hero, and the Apprentice. But I loved the dog Oberon best of all.
Which scene was your favorite?
Best scene goes to the Epilogue, with Oberon's reward/s - can't say more without Spoiling! Landscaping the Widow's yard also a fine scene.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't yet have the kind of connection with the characters that I get from, say, Terry Pratchett, where the lightness of touch is coupled with a real depth. I don't feel it's necessary, for this series, but I fully expect it to develop as the series lengthens, and the author brings more to the characters.
Any additional comments?
Recommended for anyone who loves a range of mythologies, enjoys a lighthearted approach to those myths, loves dogs or the Irish, and prefers stories that are on the whole upbeat.
