This novella was such a great, fully formed story. Rob Hatchet is flawless as August & Tripp in this small town MM cowboy romance.

I was immediately drawn in by August’s endearing attraction to the barista at his coffee shop, and how he so clearly is open about his attraction to him by calling him “sweetheart”. Rob had me swooning the entirety of his performance.

Though Rob is the singular performer of this story, his character voices for both male POVs is distinct, and speaks to both the inner feelings of each character and their impact on each other. Listen carefully for the subtleties, they are there, and so well balanced.

The story is well-written. There’s plenty of spice and discovery for both characters: August is known as a “player” and starts to realize there is something about Tripp that makes him want to change his ways….and Tripp needs someone to “teach him” if you catch what I’m throwing down. So delicious, I listened to this story in one sitting. 🥰

There are some books that you can push play and marathon, and thanks to Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton, Undeniably Enemies fits the bill! This is the fifth book in J.Saman’s Boston Billionaire series and features Jack Calihan (Owen Fritz’s best friend from book two) and little Fritz sister Wren. Samantha and Teddy were perfectly cast for this story! It is told in dual narration, and as always Samantha matches Teddy’s inflection in her male voice with precision.

Wren and Jack have a masquerade style meet-up when the story starts and it is hot as hell. As the best friend’s little sister, Wren has always had a crush on the ten year older Jack. When this masked encounter happens on Halloween, timing and circumstance send these two in separate paths. When they reconnect 5 years later, Jack is the attending at the hospital Wren is a med student. Their chemistry is raw, undeniable and electric. And also hosts a series of complications. Not to mention, they do not like each other. At. All.

Samantha has played some badass FMCs, and her role as Wren is a top contender for one of my favorites. Wren is multi-faceted. She is independent, and as a member of the Fritz family, she recognizes her privilege and doesn’t let it define her. She has some relatively recent trauma that has caused her to become careful and guarded, and I love Samantha’s depth as she voices Wren through her counting and panic attacks.

This story is told through the lens of enemies-to-lovers, and also has a Cinderella-esque vibe that is so endearing. Samantha walks the line for Wren so beautifully; she’s a woman who is still undoubtedly attracted to her former crush and also so heartbroken how things transpired between them five years prior. Samantha, this is simply one of your loveliest performances. Feisty, sweet and smart. Perfectly Wren.

Teddy plays Jack, a hardworking attending physician who doesn’t come from old money like the Fritz family. This is my favorite type of Teddy Hamilton role: Jack is an honest to goodness swoony guy, makes some mistakes, and has a heart of gold underneath a slightly steely exterior. Jack tries so hard to resist Wren and his draw to her…Teddy matches that pining and restraint with a balance that had me falling for Jack.

Additionally, there is a sweet subplot of Wren texting a mysterious number in her phone (she’s trying to weed through old contacts) and she is unaware she is texting Jack (but he knows). Teddy in these scenes is so tender and sweet, this is what won me over. That and this is one of the sexiest “he falls first” stories that had me cheering for them both. There is a very intimate scene that occurs with Jack and Wren and he is trying to establish trust and safety. What a beautiful performance and well-written scene.

This story might be a favorite of the series (tied with Owen & Estlin’s story from book 2).

What an incredible listen! This is my first Julia Jarrett book. I really enjoy how her storytelling creates a full timeline with plenty of plot development, and ties up a sweet story within a reasonable length audiobook. Dan and Lark’s story is full of love and longing, and I enjoyed every second of it.

Dan and Lark are played by Tim Paige and Victoria Connolly. They bring these friends to lovers to life with effervescent energy that made me want to keep listening. This story and these narrators had me hooked the entire time. This story is served up with dual narration and I enjoyed both Victoria and Tim as the female and male voices for the story. They are a great dual team.

What surprised me, in the best way, was how much these two characters just click without any conflict. It was so refreshing to have a story where the main characters are mature and understanding without unnecessary conflict. Victoria and Tim are sweet, spicy, and at the very core preserve the beautiful friendship Lark and Dan build their foundation on. I love how Lark was the more experienced of the two characters and taught Dan about his own physical affection. She was patient and her desire for him was unaffected by his lack of experience. I felt their transition from being the best of friends to being a passionate, expectant couple was well written and gorgeously performed.

Add this book to the list of “dual narrations are just as powerful as duets”! My gosh, Samantha and Jason provided Tabitha & Rhys with full formed emotions.

This is one of those books that is layered with all the deliciousness a slow burn can offer. The underlying tension and attraction between the two characters is something that felt like a beautiful palate cleanser. I really like that Tabitha’s sister, Erica, is a compass for each of these characters and ultimately gives each of them the direction they needed.

Jason & Samantha are two favorite voice actors and one to my favorite pairings for a reason. There is something to be said about performers who are consistently steady and make a story feel effervescent; these two do this for me every time. The emotion written in the story was made for Samantha and Jason in such a powerful way. There were many scenes I felt myself being caught up in the moment.

And the spice? It is a slow burn, but you can feel the tension building and I do think this story deserved it. Oftentimes we are so used to the insta-attraction and sexual chemistry bursting earlier, but Rhys and Tabitha worked through their mental and emotional heath in a parallel way, only to intersect together when they were ready.

Angelina and Jason in duet is such a gift to the audiobook world. I love the tone of their voices together, and they simply click as Penny & Miles.

I really enjoy Angelina’s work as a single mom who is always checking her surroundings for the good of herself and her young son. Angelina really showcases Penny’s tangible anxiety and emotion as she tries to adjust to a new life in Ember Falls, while maintaining her protectiveness and awareness. Angelina orchestrates a delicate dance of Penelope being so attracted to Miles, but needing to create an emotional barrier between them.

And Jason as Miles is exactly the voice this sweet MMC needed. I really love a golden retriever who has a larger than life background— he was a Marine and he is incredibly intuitive and protective, but such a soft hearted man. Jason lends his voice to this with such conviction and honesty. His kid voice Penelope’s son and his nephew are so innocent and playful. Just like Angelina, Jason is so brilliant at dancing between strong, emotional and smoldering.

I am so glad this audiobook exists. The slow burn and story was so powerful and worth the build up.

Kane and Isabella in audio is the best gift of January 2025. If you are unfamiliar with Nikki Castle’s universe, this is book 4 in her Fight Game series. This book could be listened to as a standalone. I recommend starting the series with book 1 to get a sense of the community Nikki has created.

Kane is broken from his own trauma and is a lone wolf. Isabella is a ballerina who has moved in next door and is working on regaining her own confidence after an injury. They immediately have a push and pull chemistry that evolves over the course of this 11hr 9min audiobook.

Gideon Frost and CJ Bloom are such a great casting for these two. Gideon really gives growl, depth, and emotion to our MMC. He captures Kane’s tough exterior and slowly, beautifully allows him to open up and find trust. CJ…well, no one else could capture Isabella’s sweet and spice. CJ has such a beautiful tone to her voice, which showcases Isabella’s genuinely sweet personality; she just wants to help Kane…but she is also no pushover. CJ is a favorite of mine and I was thrilled with her casting in this story. She captured the essence of Isabella.

I enjoyed all of this story. My favorite scenes include when Kane and Isabella take a trip to the laundromat, when Kane discovers Oscar (you’ll find out when you listen), and how Isabella gains her confidence and helps Kane blossom. And if you’re looking for spice, this story does start with a slow-burn but when it ignites. Hold. Your. Earbuds.

Some big vampire energy in this one!

As a reader who loves her contemporary romance, I am blissfully paralyzed by the world Sadie has created at Montridge with Ophelia and her vampire loves.

The story picks up right where book one left off, and I immediately fell back into the world where these characters feed so much off of each other. I am so proud of this ensemble of a cast for giving me performances that left me hanging at the end of every chapter.

The dynamic between Ophelia, Alexandros, Axl, Malachai and Xavier is palpable. June deBorahae holds her own with this male dominated cast. Maxine Mitchell has some more time to shine as Nazeel and I couldn’t have been more overjoyed. I love that Sadie has written these women who bask in their power. June gives a youthful innocence to Ophelia, and I equally love her voices for the other secondary female characters. Maxine has consumed me and forced my heart to fall in love with Nazeel; her all-knowingness is intoxicating and given to us the way only Maxine can.

And the male cast is combustible. Joe Arden returns as Alexandros Drakos and the chemistry he creates as the Professor and Sire is a testament to Joe’s ability to be powerful and dominating, while also providing a sense of guidance and nurturing to Ophelia and the boys. Sean Masters as Axl had a sense of more authority and power that was delicious. My favorites are Malachai and Xavier, played respectively by JF Harding and Oscar Reyes, who bring a level of vulnerability and protectiveness that draws Ophelia (and the listener) under their spells.

There are a few pivotal plot points that start to accelerate the story appropriately and the spice is spicing. I will stand on the hill that the chemistry between the men is hot as hell and was one of my favorite details to come out of book one…and happily carried into book two.

Savanah and Jason? My GOSH this performance is so damn good!

These two could perform duet or dual and have me in a chokehold, so this duet narration is like an immaculate gift. Brighton’s writing in this particular story is my favorite.

I fell in love with both of these characters and their meet-cute at the bar. Their night together was written with such passionate spice, and then the consequence of Aiden being Avery’s boss at the Inn was just chefs kiss. Not to mention, she is his little sister’s best friend.

As they navigate their chemistry and obligations, the slow burn explodes and continues to burn bright for the rest of the story. The entire family is such a gift to the story, and I really loved the inclusion of them in Aiden and Avery’s story.

I will recommend this to all my audio loving friends who want a story with Jason and Savannah delivering all their magic.

This might have been the first time I have heard Angelina Rocca and Jason Clarke as a duet pair, and the chemistry their voices provide is electric.

Angelina as Davina is such a great casting — I love when Angelina plays a “sassy” FMC and Davina fits this bill! She is young and used to being “on her own”. Her independent streak and adventure seeking spirit fit Angelina’s characterization of her voice; she was such a strong chick to listen to. Don’t even get me started on the steam…. Angelina delivers her signature breathless in a way that is sensual and well-measured.

Jason Clarke is the best friend’s dad as Liam. The tension that builds in scenes between Liam and Davina is a dance Jason leads with power and an unabashed dominance. I enjoy Jason in these roles because he can create such a sharp, direct and powerful tone in the matter of an instant. And again, the steam Jason delivers is such a delicious contrast to Angelina’s feminine energy and it is combustible. It felt like Liam and Davina had a genuine and intimate connection.

There’s so much great action, suspense, and world building that sets up the rest of the series. It’s spicy, yet Angelina and Jason do such a great job at allowing the intimacy outside the spice to grow.

This book! These performers! This might be a story where you check your TWs and proceed accordingly. If you regularly read dark romance and prefer to go in without advance warning, you will LOVE this audio. E.L Emkey is a new-to-me author, and I’m already itching to get my eyes and ears on the next installment of this series. Angelina Rocca and Sean Masters have been in my ears many times. When I tell you they were brilliant choices to bring Mila and Archer to life, it is no exaggeration.

Mila appears to be an FMC who would want no part of the dark world she gets a glimpse of one evening. It’s there where she meets Archer, a dark and broody “player” known around campus. From that moment on, her fate is sealed in a delicious dance of dark exploration. The plot unfolds from here and escalates in dark ane decadent ways.

Angelina gives Mila an ethereal voice, yet has an edge and backbone that is uniquely Mila. By all appearances Mila would not fit into Archer’s world. Angelina does a phenomenal job with showing the gradual descent Mila takes into the darker abyss of herself and her cravings. Mila gains strength and power as she unveils sides of herself (both to herself and Archer) that she had not yet uncovered. She is intelligent, feisty and sexy; all of these vocal qualities come through in Angelina’s performance like a tsunami of feminine power. She gives Mila her softness, but it is Mila’s ascension to finding level footing on Archer’s playing field that seals the deal for me.

Sean Masters gives a powerful performance as Archer, a man on a mission to solidify the fate of The Brotherhood and to prepare for “The Devil’s Hunt”. While Archer’s motives might be slightly dubious (you will uncover as you read) Sean gives him a duality that I loved. Archer is dark and primal. Sean undeniably reaches into the depraved corners of Archer’s character. He is commanding and I would delightfully listen to any dark romance he performs. I felt like Archer was surrounding me as I listened to his POV. Sean’s voice has power in his low tones, and it is mesmerizing.

What surprised me was how Archer’s voice could be so demanding and powerful, but so soft and adoring for Mila.

This is a dual narration that I could not get enough of. Angelina always gets me with her male voice (it’s hot) and Sean surprised me with the tone he has for his female voice. Don’t sleep on this story because it ““is not duet”— these actors put the work in and will have you spellbound.

I could not (and did not want to) stop listening. I found that the spice and plot ratio was pretty neck and neck, and I adored the primal parts of the plot that solidified the relationship between Mila and Archer.

Now I need Kai’s story (there is an epilogue in his POV that had me wanting to dive in immediately).
