Historia
High adventure and dark mystery combine in a sparkling historical romance, by Jodi Taylor writing as Isabella Barclay from The Chronicles of St. Mary's. Lord Ryde, exiled abroad after a scandal, has returned to strip his estate and make a new start in America.

Jodie or Isabella, still great story telling
Revisado: 10-08-15
Would you listen to A Bachelor Establishment again? Why?
Already listened twice, the second time is to pick up all the nuances, and get to know the characters
What other book might you compare A Bachelor Establishment to and why?
as good as any Jodie books, and I love them. The regency romance setting was not off putting in the least
What does Anna Bentinck bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Anna is a great if slightly odd narrator. Her take on male voices is both refreshing and amusing. She is not trying to be a man, she is a woman pointing out the rigidity of these men
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
the description of the main characters sexual assault by her husband, and the roles of her supporters in that

What made the experience of listening to What Could Possibly Go Wrong? the most enjoyable?
comfortable well known characters in more ridiculous situations messing up history, fixing up history and trying to stay alive
What was one of the most memorable moments of What Could Possibly Go Wrong??
none
What does Zara Ramm bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
this narrator is great as she is able to narrate without becoming a character herself. I seek her out when I am thinking about new books

Historia
When monster-hunter Malcolm MacFarlane comes across the gruesome aftermath of a ritual murder in a London church, he enlists the help of magician-scribe Simon Archer and alchemist extraordinaire Kate Anstruther. Studying the macabre scene, they struggle to understand obscure clues in the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics carved into the victim’s heart—as well as bizarre mystical allusions to the romantic poetry of William Blake. One thing is clear: Some very potent black magic is at work.

If you could sum up The Undying Legion: Crown & Key in three words, what would they be?
stylish, modern, punkish
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Undying Legion: Crown & Key?
what a stupid question, there are no 'moments' this is a rollicking story that is not a series of moments
What aspect of Nicholas Guy Smith’s performance would you have changed?
too slow
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
never do that

I loved this despite myself
Revisado: 09-15-15
What made the experience of listening to A Man of Some Repute the most enjoyable?
expected the same old same old in post war mysteries. Even though I thought I knew what would happen next, I had to keep listening, just in case the thread was a furphy. Nice to have the little known consequences of the war highlighted, in the orphaned child, the loss of continuity, and the fear continued to be experienced by tenants. What next please!
If you’ve listened to books by Elizabeth Edmondson before, how does this one compare?
I have never listened to this author before, but will be looking her up asap. I now have high expectations of what else she may have written
Have you listened to any of Michael Page’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The narrator was new to me, I always listen to the preview before I buy as the narrator is such an important part of the experience

oh that narrator!
Revisado: 05-09-15
Would you try another book from Colleen Gleason and/or Jayne Entwistle?
I would be interested in Gleason, but unless someone helps Entwistle with the English language and her atrocious uneven characterisations, I am unlikely to seek her out
Who was your favorite character and why?
the characters, while interesting are irritating, Gleason makes the narrative compelling enough that you have to go on
How did the narrator detract from the book?
a complete distraction, diction, accents, pronunciation, uneven characterisations
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
frustration, a compelling narrative with annoying heroines and a bad narration
Any additional comments?
get a new narrator for the next book

Historia
My name is Peter Grant and until January I was just probationary constable in that mighty army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service (as the Filth to everybody else). My only concerns in life were how to avoid a transfer to the Case Progression Unit - we do paperwork so real coppers don't have to - and finding a way to climb into the panties of the outrageously perky WPC Leslie May.

Get to know London & Magic
Revisado: 03-15-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Listen to this now! Meet Peter Grant and modern London have a hidden side
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
the plot is clear enough, but the relationships between the main players makes this feel cohesive
What about Kobna Holdbrook-Smith’s performance did you like?
Kobna Holbrook-Smith is a genius. I have sought out other books where he is the narrator. Great range and humour
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I purposely limited my reading, didn't want to get to the end

New York Times best-selling author Laurie R. King enjoys immense popularity and a resounding chorus of critical acclaim for her exquisite mysteries. Holmes needs his wife more than ever, meets son
Revisado: 08-07-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The God of the Hive to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed the print, but audio version brings the characters to life like no page can
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
This is a typical Holmesian plot, but the additioanl of Holmes' family members gives us somewhere lese tyo look for more adventures
Which character – as performed by Jenny Sterlin – was your favorite?
I enjoyed the characted of Russell so much, not just a flimsy support around which Holmes can pivot, but the key to the ageing detectives ability
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Never listen in one sitting, a good soap opera with small snippetts over a prolonged period makes it more enjoyable
Any additional comments?
More Holmes and Russell, more family intrigues!
