Historia
To a young girl, the life of a student nurse sounds exciting, but with long hours and short shrift it's never easy. So when Maggie Groff embarks as a student nurse at London's King's College Hospital, she must quickly get to grips with the demands of her chosen career. It's sink or swim. In a delightful romp through time, played out against the march of feminism and the fashion, music and movies of almost half a century ago, we follow Maggie's highs and lows as, with trial and much error, she becomes a highly skilled nurse and sets sail for a new life in Australia.

Excellent
Revisado: 09-13-22
Her account of being a nurse to a full fledged nurse is lively, humorous at a fine pace. The performance was well done. I recommend this book to anyone loving medical stories. A thumbs up!

Revisado: 03-03-20
As usual this novel by Alexander McCall Smith does not disappoint. With all the twists and turns intermingled with humor. It’s always a pleasure to listen to a book in this series. Lisette Lecat does a wonderful performance and brings each character to life in a different voice.

Very engaging account of the Life of Florence Nightingale
Revisado: 10-30-19
Well researched. In such a short amount of time you come to understand Ms Nightingale’s philosophy as not only a nurse but as an administrator, author, teacher and social reformer. This concise account is both a joy and educational listening experience. I recommend it as a well read and interesting performance by Mike Nelson.

Historia
Few personalities from classical antiquity are more famous - yet more poorly understood - than Cleopatra VII, queen of Egypt. In this major biography, Duane Roller reveals that Cleopatra was in fact a learned and visionary leader whose overarching goal was always the preservation of her dynasty and kingdom. Roller's authoritative account is the first to be based solely on primary materials from the Greco-Roman period: literary sources, Egyptian documents (Cleopatra's own writings), and representations in art and coinage produced while she was alive.

Reader should have been a woman
Revisado: 08-22-19
Very dry, but ok. So many dates and names. Would have enjoyed more emotion in the reader’s voice. Would have liked more of a story tone. Research was thorough, very thorough. As above a woman’s voice would have been better.

Well told history of Sacagawea
Revisado: 08-09-19
Well read journey of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Sacagawea, a teenage Shashone woman who served as an interpreter and occasional guide to the L& C expedition. With many quotes from the journals of the men who made up the expedition,an accurate picture is given of Sacagawea’s contribution to the opening up of the American West to the Pacific Ocean helping in the expansion of the Continental U.S.vey enjoyable reading.

Freud's Oracle, a new play by award-winning author/actor Catherine Ann Jones, is a one-person play about the American poet HD and her relationship with Sigmund Freud. Interesting view of the life of nursing students in the 50s and 60s Britain
Revisado: 08-06-19
I think it would have been better performed by a younger performer, to catch the youthful vigor of the time, but it was enjoyable none the less. It got a little tedious at times when they started naming all the various instruments. ( Especially for non medical people) But none the less a good listen. Very informative.
