Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.

Love the story-totally dislike the narrator.
Revisado: 03-17-24
I enjoyed watching the story on television and decided to read the book afterwards. I am about halfway through the audible but have to say the narrator is so annoying. If he read any slower he would have to speed up to stop! Sounds like he is reading to a 5 year old that has english as a second language. His idea of giving character to conversation is awful.
I will tolerate the reading of this since the story line is so good. I do look forward to more of Lee Child's books but since I use Audible I will have to do my homework and use the sample recordings before clicking the "I want this" button.

Love this book
Revisado: 12-11-23
This is the first Dick Francis book I read and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Well put together and kept me turning the pages to find out more. I think I read it in one sitting. I have now read all of the Dick Francis books and a few of the collaborations with his son. If you like horses and racing you will enjoy these books

Historia
British soldier Peter Lennox, a POW in an Italian prison camp, is still fighting his own war. An artist in civilian life, his hands bear the scars of wounds received during his capture at the fall of Tobruk, and he suspects he will never paint again. The only thing that sustains him is plotting his escapes, no matter how many times he is recaptured. But in September 1943 the Italians surrender to the Allies, and Lennox is free.

Remembering the era when this booke was written

I enjoyed the read. This was one of the first books I had read by Helen MacInnes. It was written at the time close to the events that probably would have taken place.

Historia
Chuck Kelso is an idealist. When he steals a top-secret NATO memorandum, he only intends to leak it to the press; but it is soon in the hands of a Russian agent, a man who has spent nine years quietly working himself into the fabric of Washington society. Within hours it has reached the KGB, and the CIA’s top man in Moscow has had his cover blown. For British agent Tony Lawton, hunting down the Russian operative—the "agent in place"—is a welcome challenge. But for Chuck’s brother, the journalist Tom Kelso, and his beautiful wife, Thea, the affair has unleashed a very special terror.

Historia
He stared at the unfamiliar watch on his wrist. Three hours ago, he had stood on English soil. Three hours ago, he had been Martin Hearne, British Intelligence agent. Now he was in Nazi-occupied Brittany, posing as Bertrand Corlay, with the Frenchman’s life reduced to headings in his memory. Hearne looked down at the faded uniform, which had once been Corlay’s, felt once more for the papers in the inside pocket. He was ready. From now on, he was one step away from death.

I read Helen MacInnes books when I was in my teens
Revisado: 08-16-22
I have always enjoyed her books. I read them avidly in the 1960's but find them just as exciting today. History does tend to repeat. Just the factions are somewhat different.

Historia
Considered one of the great dystopian novels - alongside Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange and Aldous Huxley's A Brave New World - Ira Levin's frightening glimpse into the future continues to fascinate listeners even 40 years after publication. The story is set in a seemingly perfect global society. Uniformity is the defining feature; there is only one language and all ethnic groups have been eugenically merged into one race called "The Family".

I love this story but the narrator is terrible. I am going to turn this book back to Audible. If you can come up with another narrator with this book let me know.
