Historia
With Age of Myth, Age of Swords, and the New York Times best-selling Age of War, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan riveted fans with a tale of unlikely heroes locked in a desperate battle to save humankind. After years of warfare, humanity has gained the upper hand and has pushed the Fhrey to the edge of their homeland, but no farther. Now comes the pivotal moment. Persephone’s plan to use the stalemate to seek peace is destroyed by an unexpected betrayal that threatens to hand victory to her enemy and leaves a loved one in peril.

Good book, but obviously unfinished
Revisado: 07-14-19
This book felt like a slap in the face. I love Michael Sullivan's books because every one of them before this has told a complete story. This one fails to do so and is obviously a cash grab, either by him or his publisher.
While Age of Legend is good, it's incomplete. I would say 2/3 complete at best. I don't know if Sullivan made the call or his publisher did, but this reeks of what Tor did with the middle books of Wheel of Time. I was listening to this book after having waited since 3-4 days after the completion of the last book, thought I was halfway through, started a six hour road trip and it ended half an hour in. I thought there had to be some mistake! Audible maybe didn't download the whole thing. Nope, this book is incomplete. It's a slap in the face for his long-time fans.
As far as the audiobook goes, Tim Gerard Reynolds is a fantastic voice actor. He speaks clearly and does some funny voices. He's not the best at imitating female characters, but his representation of their voices makes that all the better. For content, aside from the book being half-finished, I didn't walk away from this book thinking "I got a lot that wasn't in previous books." I did, however, like the (one) new character that had been introduced later. There's less Gifford, less Roan, less Suri, almost no Persephone, a little more Brin, and a LOT more Tesh. Overall, had this been a complete story, I would have genuinely enjoyed the book. The wise character introduced later, M, was well represented. Even with the little time spent on their story and purpose made me sympathize with M and empathize in my own way.
This book could have been excellent, but it's missing too much. I'm not even excited for the next book. I'm going to get it (I have the next two on pre-order and have since before this book came out), but I'm no longer looking forward to the next one with urgency and anticipation. I'll only read/listen when I feel the need to get closure. This book is a betrayal to your base Mr. Sullivan. Please don't release anything like it again. Go back to your excellent way of making each book a patch on a quilt, that is to say, an entire self-contained story and part of the greater whole all in one.

The only complaint that I have is...
Revisado: 11-30-17
This book was entirely too short! Some parts were predictable, but Sanderson introduced a few new concepts and a LOT more Cosmere lore. There's a lot of great Hoid/Wit in this book and it makes everything better! If you are making your way through the Cosmere, I would recommend that you read this book AFTER the first two Mistborn trilogies, Secret History, and Elantris. I don't know what Sanderson's desired reading order is, but if you read this before reading Hero of Ages you'll get some spoilers.

Revisado: 09-05-17
This book was the second half of what the first book should have been. The story was more developed...like the second half of a book should have done. It ends on a cliffhanger, but feels complete at least. Nick Podehl's performance was amazing and I will be looking forward to book 3. Hopefully we're not getting book 3 part 1.

Why isn't this book complete?
Revisado: 09-05-17
It seems like the editors cut the book off halfway. I understand wanting to write a series, but I don't understand cutting the story in half to write two books. I just read and listened to this book and the second, and it's obvious that they were intended to be the same book. The second book feels like the natural end of a book in a series. Nick Podehl's performance was amazing. Overall, average because I hate having to pay for two parts of the same book.

The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

I can't get over it!
Revisado: 08-15-17
This series is unbelievable! Absolutely fantastic. While I would have written some things differently, I am not the author. I can't give Mr. Taylor enough praise. He was able to get into the mind of a human replicant and how the would have evolved over centuries. No science fiction media has been able to catch my attention to this level since Firefly first aired.

This story is actually good.
Revisado: 01-24-17
I have read and listened to each Harry Potter book and felt like I had to force myself through (a friend desperately wanted me to read the series). So far it's been mediocre at best; though good for a children's series. Then this book came. It was filled with the standard droning angst of an entitled child, dishonest, and whiny. The end sealed it for me. There was genuine emotion and had an impact on me. A good story. So far, the best in the series by a wide margin.

I can't express how happy I am that I picked up this series. The writing is great, the main characters identifiable, and the overall style makes you feel like you're there, not just immersed. Excellent narrator (I like him almost as much as Dotrice and Kramer). I just wanted to hold me over until the next Sanderson book and this has me holding off on Arcanum Unbounded to read the next in the chronicles!

Better than the first.
Revisado: 11-16-16
This feels like it was a small subset of another book. Maybe it's because I've read Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, and The Wheel of Time. Maybe it's because the book is part of a three part series. It seems like a YA book written for adults. It's hurried and hollow. I don't feel any connection to the characters except Ben, and their reasoning for their quest is shallow at best. I only gave the story such a high rating because it's better than the first.
