Taraji and Tracee are excellent in this. The casting is perfect and kept me tuned in from start to finish. I would love to hear them again in a sequel; perhaps in Mykonos lol.

Kip and Mila are as different as night and day, and it works well. Her brainy and strait-laced innocence brings out the softer side of this brawny and hedonistic man. In turn he brings out her passion. The oops baby makes Mila’s life complete, but Kip isn’t satisfied with just being a father; he wants a family.

Advice that is practical and applicable to anyones life. Brandon lays out some great advice that seems like common sense, but is often overlooked and taken for granted. A good quick listen worth revisiting whenever you need to get your focus back and take charge of your success.

Holy Smokes! What a Wild Ride!

Ok, I read read this book in both digital format and with audible whisper-sync. The narrators really brought this story to life! My only complaint is there were times where I thought Declan lost a little of his Irish lilt; this could be attributed to the fact that he is first generation and has more American English influence which presents itself from time to time. Otherwise the narrator's voice was deliciously thick, most likely as thick as well, ummm you get the picture.

Anyway, I've always been a fan of dual narrators, and especially in this case as they communicated within each other's chapters and not just when giving their own perspectives. I really enjoyed the banter between Sloan and Sir, umm I mean Declan. The drama of Book 1 was eclipsed by what is presented in this 2nd installment. I could not have imagined how wild this ride was going to get. They were intense from start to finish, so much so that I may have covered my mouth and screamed several times while reading this. this storyline included all the elements that keep my attention like a good movie: location changes that include drama while en route, machismo that is also respectful of boundaries, consent consent CONSENT, all the love languages mafia style, a health scare, temporary cease-fire, and a "definitely didn't see THAT coming" moment or three.

I do not want to provide any spoilers, so I'll just recommend that you read Book 1 then hurry and read Book 2 already! LOL (I'm moving on to Book 3 and fingers crossed that there's more Nat, Kage, Sloan, and Declan carryover).

I wanted to know more about Lia

In the other books we got a description of the color of the MC hair and skin as well as the culture based on the country of origin. Based on the type of shifter portrayed in this novel and the cover model I was expecting to hear about her melanated skin and beautifully textured hair. The author missed a wonderful opportunity to explore Lia’s ethnic background and Jon’s undoubtedly sun kissed skin from all that time on the docks of the bayou. In the other books we heard about blonde and raven colored strands and ivory skin; it would’ve been nice to hear more about Lia’s culture and background, especially for a family of deer in North America. We did hear a bit more about Jon’s European background but didn’t get much more physical description beyond faint scarring on his body. The storyline has just the right amount of angst and a plot twist I was not expecting; really caught me off guard. I’ve enjoyed this entire series.

Well developed story

This is only my 2nd Georgette St. Clair novel (first one being “Mated to a Capo”) and I must say her stories are well developed and multi-layered. I’ve read shifter series before, and none have blended other supernatural storylines/characters into the mix. I look forward to more of her stories. Also, Maxine Mitchell’s narration never disappoints.

Took me by surprise!

I loved every minute of this novel! I’d read the preview and had NO IDEA the story would take so many welcomed twists and turns. I began the story fully expecting a predictable end, but the road to happily ever after was lined with so much more. I’m looking for any follow up novels, because Melanie and Big Darcy’s story (and those of the characters they met along the way) made me want to visit the Highlands and never leave!

Hoping the Slow Burn Continues

Book 3 in this series doesn’t disappoint! I enjoy J.T. Geissinger’s twists and turns; just when you think you’ve got the plot figured out, you get thrown for an enjoyable loop. And can we just all agree that the narration from Mackenzie and Brian (growl) was a magical pairing?
