Historia
Starship engineer Anailu Xindar dreamed of owning her own ship, but she didn't find the courage to actually go for it until she was forced out of her safe, comfortable job. She goes shopping for a cheap, practical freighter, but she ends up buying a rare, beautiful, but crippled luxury ship. Getting it into space will take more than her technical skills. She'll have to go way outside her comfort zone to brave the dangers of safaris, formal dinners, a rude professor, and, worst of all, a fashion designer. She may even have to make some friends...and enemies.

Good story line poor execution.
Revisado: 12-10-17
While the narrator has a pleasant voice and does accents, she sounds the same in very calm scenes or action packed scenes. Had trouble staying awake. That being said, I really can’t tell if this is a good book or not. I really like the story line but sometimes felt I was in a fashion magazine nightmare. Very much considering putting it back on the shelf. It’s a shame.

Historia
The luck runs rough around Theo Waitley. Not only are people trying to kill her and capture the self-aware intelligent ship, Bechimo, to whom Theo is bonded, they're also trying to arrest her crew membersand throw the dignity of an important passenger, the duly constituted norbear ambassador Hevelin, into question. No wonder Theo and her crew felt the need for a break and retired to what Bechimo refers to as "safe space". Unfortunately, safe space may not be so safe anymore.

Theo Waitley sections of this series not my favorite.
Revisado: 06-08-17
While I like being filled in on events I find the Theo Waitley books tedious and have difficulty telling discussions of Ship emotion from events. I miss a lot because I feel like I'm drowning in so much space seaweed I can't tell when something is actually happening. Plus it plays the ploy of merely being an episode rather than a book. So wait til it becomes a trilogy to call it a book.

Historia
A music therapist who thrives on helping others, Kendra Michaels cherishes the ordinary life she has achieved after stem cell surgery restored her sight. The skills she perfected during those sightless years - the ability to pick up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her - coupled with her laser-sharp mind - have made her a uniquely potent observer and problem solver. Kendra’s uncanny way of connecting the dots is as baffling to law enforcement as it is legendary.

An OK story about details leaves a few out.
Revisado: 11-06-16
I purchased this book because of the Narrator. I am enchanted with the voice of Elizabeth Rogers and her ability with NE USA accents. Waiting for another Archer's Beach book to show up. The is about observing details to solve crime. So, one scene in the book really bothered me and clued me to more places where the writers really needed to pay attention. The protagonists went out into a 110 degree desert without water, had a gun fight then stood in the heat an hour and a half more answering questions to authorities. No mention of discomfort or need for water. Ummm, Not! The book pays close attention to visual, auditory and even aural clues but almost none to the senses of the skin and environment. Still, it was an OK story If I were an editor, I would have sent the manuscript back for re-working before publishing. I may read next in series because it has a higher customer rating. Perhaps they have worked out such issues. I'll have to read some to find out.

Wonderful writing style
Revisado: 10-04-16
Maria Dahvana Headley has a wonderful writing style and the first several chapters of her book were a joy to listen to. However as it moved into fantasy I had a great deal of trouble suspending belief in order to join her world above the clouds. The world building did not convince me. Still, I listened to the whole book and enjoyed her style if not her world building.

Historia
Set in the 26th century A.D., Yevgeny Zamyatin's masterpiece describes life under the regimented totalitarian society of OneState, ruled over by the all-powerful "Benefactor." Recognized as the inspiration for George Orwell's 1984, We is the archetype of the modern dystopia, or anti-Utopia: a great prose poem detailing the fate that might befall us all if we surrender our individual selves to some collective dream of technology and fail in the vigilance that is the price of freedom.

Revisado: 09-25-16
Yevgeny Zamyatin may have been the first to write a story like this but I don't buy that robot to lust and jealousy constitutes a soul. It was more like complete control to complete (emotional at least) loss of control.

Reincarnation? or Alternate Universes? Maybe Both
Revisado: 09-23-16
Well I sure got a small idea how her brand of re-incarnation can be. While I have had enough of the first reading, this is probably a book I will read again when I want to feel my head spinning. I can't really rate it the way I want because the author deserves more stars just for putting it together. It cover's every mother's nightmares over accidents that might happen to their children then goes on to what coulda, woulda, will be. Enjoy if you like a mental roller coaster.

Good Story, narration still painful
Revisado: 07-11-16
I have greatly enjoyed all of the Liaden series books. However the Arc of the Covenants series read by Kevin T Collins are painful to listen to since all the Liaden characters have all been given BAD British accents, where they didn't exist before. Don't now if it was reader's choice or director's choice but it was a bad decision. It was and still is, actually painful to have the characters qualities slaughtered by the narration. That being said, I am buying the written editions where I don't have to fight the narration to get to the story.
However, narration has improved somewhat in that the accents are toned down somewhat from the last Kevin T Collins narration but still, to me, very irritating. I have to work too hard to get to the very good story.
