Sad but Good
Revisado: 02-03-24
If I had known how this book was going to go I would not have chosen it!!!!! Even with that being said this is a really good book. I keep having moments of hoping it would get better for them but it didn't. It was like watching Good Times, it almost gets better for them and then it's snatched away. Again this is a good book I wanted to stop listening but I was too invested. There were moments of humor, moments when I could relate and moments when I almost said a prayer for them lol.

Loved it, it's been a minute since I listen to a really GOOD book and this is definitely one. The story was full of what really happens in real life and history.

Historia
When the body of reality TV star Desiree Pierce is found on a playground in the Bronx the morning after her twenty-fifth birthday party, the police and the media are quick to declare her death an overdose. A tragedy, certainly, but not a crime. Yet Columbia grad student Lena—principled, headstrong, and allergic to the spotlight—knows that can’t be the case. Despite the bitter truth that the two hadn’t spoken in two years, they were half-sisters. Lena knew Desiree. And Desiree would never travel above 125th Street. Something is very wrong with the facts. So why is no one listening?

I’m a fan of the authors other 2 books. I didn’t dislike this book it was just a lot to keep up with so many characters and names. The storyline was good but again just a lot to keep up with.

Really Good
Revisado: 09-06-21
I really enjoyed this book, it’s real life! We all have either meet the main character or know the main character or you are the main character. There were times I got frustrated but that speaks to how well written it is. Please get this book it’s so worth it.

Historia
You have to use what you got to get what you want. For Journey Clayton, this statement rings more than true as she struggles under the weight of her mother’s cocaine addiction. She learns from a very young age that family doesn’t offer as much help as she hoped they would. It’s not until she befriends Khalid, the son of a neighborhood drug dealer, who is trying to stay above the struggle himself, that she starts to believe there might just be hope...even for little girls in the ghetto.

Uhhh

It’s one of those free books but I can’t. Who can listen to a book where the uncle talks about sexual acts with his niece. Not a niece just talking about being a victim but he it almost seem normalized. I don’t know if it gets better but I couldn’t get past it. Read/Listen at your own risk. Happy

It's Cool
Revisado: 12-10-20
The book is just alright. It could have definitely been really good if the author would have dove deeper with the characters. The narration was ok until the men had to do the women's voice and the women had to do the man's voice. Especially the woman doing the man. Again it wasn't horrible but it wouldn't listen again.

Good story
Revisado: 09-22-20
The story was really good I enjoyed the twist at the end, it was well written. Butttttt the narration! To be honest she was legit with character changes but the mispronounced word, even saying the incorrect words and correcting it mid sentence was unprofessional. I don’t blame the narrator I blame whoever didn’t edit before putting it out.

LOVED IT!
Revisado: 07-18-20
Part 2 was just as good as the first one. I loved the unexpected twist and turns and how it didn't go how i thought it would. I loved that the women in the book had moments of weakness that were relatable but they we're not weak. That in the end LOVE won.

I DIDN'T
Revisado: 07-15-20
I didn't like it, but I also seen some books with high ratings that I hated so I never say don't purchase it. To me it was like a bad version of the movie RAY. There was nothing that grabbed me but I was invested so I finished it and even the ending did nothing for me. I just didn't like it.

Revisado: 07-11-20
This book was awesome the story was so rich with history. I love the two world coming together but not in the way I imagined. Both narrators were awesome and the lost friends in between was beautiful. I both laughed and cried while listening to this book .
