Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

This book is crap nothing like the first book!
Revisado: 11-25-24
I loved the first book! It was engaging, had you wondering what was going to happen and the narrators did a good job.
This second book however was horrible. The first book has action, a bit of mystery, romance, engaging characters and the plot was interesting. There was a bit of sex but it was not the focus of the book. However, in the second book is all about sex and belittles the plot ( which you barely remember). Every time the author gets into the plot the next chapter is a sex scene. Even during action chapters the characters have to still mention they have the hots for each other.
The first book even though was about teenagers, read like an adult action/adventure/romance book. This second book just reads like romance filth. After reading the first book I had a lot of respect for this author but now that is gone.
If you want a good romance/adventure book read the 1st book. If you just want chapters of sex scenes read the horrible second book.

This series is great. The stories are short compared to other audio books but the cast and characters make this series a good read!

Historia
The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. Of course, that's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers (or NPCs) to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.

I loved the main characters and the twists and turns the book had. I laughed out loud at a lot of parts in the narrative. The narrator did a great job and really made the characters come alive.

Great story and characters!
Revisado: 01-22-24
I love Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie novels. This is the first James Patterson book I read because the title caught my eye. I felt this book was great in telling the mystery and the main characters were interesting. The story was quick paced and kept my attention. I am hoping this series continues!

The detective was barely in the book
Revisado: 12-06-23
I usually do not leave low rating reviews but this author is suppose to be up there with Christie and Marsh and the main character was a side character with barely any lines. A waste of a listen.

I loved the book but they didn't edit it properly
Revisado: 09-04-23
I loved this book! However, The editing was poor. There were repeating sentences all through the book. I was laughing and in tears when Hank was describing the travel to the continent and then coming back and avoiding quarantine. This series is great!

Revisado: 09-08-22
but these books are too boring and long. The main character is a real nosy and annoying person. She is too unrealistic. In real life this person would not get any questions answered because she is too nosy even for an amateur detective.
