Wow, I’m impressed! I thought this was going to be a humorous book about the apocalypse. And it was. And that part was as fun as I had hoped. What surprised me was how interesting the story was and how well it unfolded over the course of the three books. I ended up caring about the characters. Even the ending was satisfying, which I imagine is tricky with a book about the apocalypse. I’m glad my cousin pointed this series out to me. It’s not easy to find a new good story! The narrator did a solid job hitting the right tone on the funny parts and the serious parts and did a great job with the characters’ voices. I laughed out loud more than once.

Just over a year after Jack Winters and his friends, Mike and Barry, defeated evil, things are starting to look up. Mike is in charge of the guardian angels. Barry is living happily as an actor for the citizens of heaven. The world is even starting to set itself right again in the aftermath of the apocalypse. Jack, however, went in search of Lola and hasn’t been seen since. When Mike gets word that someone has been sent to find and kill Jack, he and Barry will set off in opposite directions around the world to find their friend before his killer can.

Ha! A lighthearted story about the apocalypse. Lots of laughs. The narrator did a great job with the funny accents, and his timing was just right. I am marking my calendar to check for the sequel.
