Revisado: 08-09-19
This was a brilliantly written novel with one exception. Each chapter concludes with a recipe. The author needed to decide if he was writing a spy novel or a cookbook. Other than that this was a brilliant novel.

Good story, sloppy production
Revisado: 04-15-18
I enjoyed the story it was fun to hear Jack Ryan Junior get set up to continue the series. The person reading the book did a fine job. However, the production team was amazingly sloppy. There are about 10 places where they repeat the last 10 seconds. This is just a miss in audio production. Didn’t anyone actually listen to the product before they shipped it?

Despite the narrator change, I liked the book
Revisado: 12-05-17
Would you listen to Enemy of the State again? Why?
No. I don't listen to any books more than once.
What did you like best about this story?
Good, tight adventure that took Mitch Rapp in a very different direction than the usual novel. This made for a fresh premise that was a 100% Mitch Rapp adventure without relying on the usual characters.
What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?
Scott Brick did an excellent job of voicing the book and bringing the story and characters to life. Others seem to get their boxers in a twist because he is not the previous narrator. (Who I also liked.) This is the same crowd who are still upset that Sean Connery is not playing on James Bond anymore. Get over it. Enjoy the story. Enjoy the performance. I will happily listen to Scott Brick again in a heartbeat.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. But there is a lot of book to cover. I would have to have more than one pizza brought in to do it all at once.
Any additional comments?
I'm pleased with the continuation of the series. I have always enjoyed these books. The new team has done a good job of being true to the characters while doing some fresh storytelling.

Historia
In this essential new book, self-protection expert and former military intelligence officer Tim Larkin changes the way we think about violence in order to save our lives. By deconstructing our assumptions about violence - its morality, its function in modern society, how it actually works - Larkin unlocks the shackles of our own taboos and arms us with what we need to know to prevent, prepare for, and survive the unthinkable event of life-or-death violence.

A sane, straightforward guide
Revisado: 09-08-17
What did you love best about When Violence Is the Answer?
This was a clear, concise, brilliantly-crafted guide for what to do if the unthinkable happens - you are faced with asocial violence. While the topic may make someone uncomfortable, the understanding this book provides is vital.
What did you like best about this story?
Having the author present the material was like being personally instructed. It is clear that he knows this information down to its core. That made this information very real and connected with me in a way that was beyond merely having information read to me.
Have you listened to any of Tim Larkin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. The information provided about criminals' cold, single minded use of violence gave me an understanding I never knew growing up in suburbia. The information about how you can survive even if the attacker is bigger, stronger, and faster helped replace my fear with information I can use. The stories of how smaller, weaker people used their brains to prevail gave me a new confidence.
Any additional comments?
What is deceptive, is that many people may think this is just a manual for ass-kicking. It is not. In fact, some of the best information may be about when and how to step away from violence. I am getting copies of this for all of my family members. The hope is that they never need this information. But, if they do, I believe that they can survive to tell me about it.

An epic production of a Science a Fiction Classic.
Revisado: 07-03-16
I read Battlefield Earth in 1982 and loved it. It is a classic piece of Purcell science fiction with adventure and intrigue, heroes and villains. It was hard to put down. The new audio version is even more captivating. More than the typical single narrator read, this audio is a full production with a complete cast of voices along with custom music an effects. Think of it as a complete, epic production done in audio. The whole thing is 47+ hours long so in my mind it is the best value on Audible. You should be warned that more than once I sat in my driveway unable to turn it off while I kept listening. Has this raised the bar for professionally produced audio? I think so.

A definitive guide for anyone who acts on camera
Revisado: 07-28-15
What made the experience of listening to Secrets of Screen Acting the most enjoyable?
This book is a rare example of vital, hard won experience gained from decades of working with screen actors, given in a clear, understandable way. If you want a bunch of vague ideas about actor's motivations...this is not your book. If you want solid information about how to come on set and and know what to do to be an actor that "the camera loves," this book is priceless.
What does David H. Lawrence XVII bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
David H Lawrence the XVII delivers a narration that is warm, clear, and understandable. The book has a lot of references to the pdf guide and movies where one can observe the exact action being taught. He pulls this off in an engaging way. He was the idea narrator for this work.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
As I listened to the differences between performing on stage and on camera, I realized that what I had thought to be true was 180 degrees wrong. Then the book gave me a useful set of tools that took my understanding of on-camera acting to a whole new level. It was revelatory.
Any additional comments?
This book is a masterclass where one walks away knowing they have been enhanced and will never perform the same again. It is vital for anyone serious about their craft as an actor.

It's a tale of addiction and grief, of losing control, and ultimately, of the price of our dreams.

The story gives an insider's view of Thomas Kinkade. It was well crafted and I appreciate the story being told by someone who was there rather than someone' account based on news reports and a few interviews. Jim Meskimen is a masterful narrator who conveys a story with clarity and warmth. He is one of the best.

Good performance of a slightly above average book
Revisado: 06-27-15
The story itself is rather well crafted. There are some unexpected twists and turns. The author, however, tries too hard to create a stereotypical, cynical, smart-ass detective. At times it gets in the way of the story. The saving grace is an exceptional performance by the narrator. I will seek out other titles by the narrator. I'm done with the author.
