I received the audiobook as part of the author's blog tour. Normally, I don't care for sports-related plots, but I have to confess, the poor little slave boy (teen) Bensin won me over. With a feel of a post-modern sci-fi (or perhaps urban fantasy), but also reminiscent of ancient Rome, the world was both familiar and unique.

But it was Bensin's worries and loyalty to his little sister that intrigued me so much. *Note: Though they are slaves, and Bensin fights a violent sport, The Collar and the Cavvarach is a "clean" story, meaning Ms. Lima didn't include the oft-obligatory over-description of the arena's bloody goings-on.

All in all, I enjoyed The Collar and the Cavvarach and I think most Fantasy readers will too.

The obstacles Rosamund must overcome on her way to capturing the hero's heart are inspiring. Highly recommended for romance fans and fans of Beauty & the Beast tales.

I enjoyed the story very much and Miss Rachael Beresford's narration. If The only thing that made me wonder was the inclusion of the heroine and other female characters with the work of the war office (historically, that is) but ... this did nothing to detract from my enjoyment. In fact, I'd say it's been one of my favorite historical romance reads (er, listens) in a while. I look forward to delving into more of her series!

I enjoyed this tale of a magical young man and his family during the 1800s. Particularly found the story of his Irish immigrant father intriguing, and also how the narrator handled their accents! That made the story come alive even more. I'm looking forward to reading more of P.S. Bartlett's work in the future. If you enjoy fantastical Irish tales, don't miss this one!

I enjoyed this book very much, both in the ebook and now audiobook formats. I felt for Jessamine, and found myself hoping she and Lord Kirkendale could get their happy ending. Do they? You'll have to listen to find out!

Sweet and providing just a hint of Gothic and attention to period details, the characters are well-drawn and I particularly liked the early 20th century period details. fans of late Victorian romance will find this a satisfying listen.

This is the first time I've read (or, actually listened to) Ms. Brant's work and I found it enjoyable. I particularly liked the heroine and felt for her, about the way her whole life worked out after *that night*-- really, sympathized for the whole situation she finds herself in.

Nonetheless, I found this a book I kept going back to, just to see how it all turned out. Mr. Wyndham, likewise, did a fabulous job narrating; I quite like his voice.

What made the experience of listening to The Ice Captain's Daughter the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed hearing the story in a new way.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jillian, of course! She's charming and sweet, with just a hint of spunk.

What does Rachel F. Hirsch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought the way she voiced the characters was charming.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Ms. Rogers' work always contains a touch of humor that lifts my spirits.

Any additional comments?

I love Ms. Rogers' work and the Ice Captain's Daughter is no different. Her Regency Romance debut, The Ice Captain’s Daughter is a delightful Young Adult novella, well-researched and with some surprising elements. I also enjoyed Ms. Hirsch's Naration and found she lent the audiobook a charming air.

Coupled with Rogers’ signature hint of humor, I think her new title lends something to the sometimes stuffy genre of Regency Romance, that may hook a few younger readers to the genre. If you enjoy sweet, lighthearted romance, Suzanne G. Rogers’ The Ice Captain’s Daughter will be one to add to your listening list.

Would you listen to The Burning of Her Sin again? Why?

Yes. Because I enjoy Patty's Supernatural mysteries.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes.

What does T.S.R. Carlson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her performance added to the spookiness.

Any additional comments?

I found Patty's first Brenda Strange story very intriguing, and even sympathized with the ghosts. The story is very creepy at times--the house alone reminded me of something on the order of Anne Rice's The Witching Hour. And I think fans of supernatural mysteries will enjoy it. Do check her delightfully creepy book out!
