Sophie Wilder returns home to California with nothing more than a failed Broadway career and a geriatric cat. Beautiful
Revisado: 04-24-25
Nicole Deese brings real life difficulties, our imperfections and lack of faith moments and shows how God's mercy always prevails. He is always with us fighting for a relationship. This is a beautiful story!

Historia
Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

This book will make you grateful
Revisado: 04-09-24
I have never written a review before. Not even for my favorite book of all time- The Nightingale. There is something about Hannah's books that just leave you changed afterwards. This one was different. I literally felt like I was in pain the entire book and I am sad to my core for the people who lived through this time period. I will forever be more grateful and cautious of my frivolous ways. We have no idea how lucky we are. I've never been rich but man am I blessed. Thank you Hannah for sharing these stories with us. We need them!
