The Serenity crew head to Yell City, one of the settlements on Abel, a moon in the Rim. Their job: track down the killers of a local lawyer shot dead in the streets by a local gang. Their client is Annie Roberts, the eighteen-year-old daughter of the murdered man. Lucky for them, Annie Roberts is more than capable of handling herself. Unlucky for them, the job is lot more complicated than they at first think it is. Annie’s father is not just the victim of local gang violence but also the target of some powerful men.

Two narrators, no good

Book was good. Narration was not. Either stick with a single narrator or assign specific characters to specific narrators. Hearing the same character speak with different voices is distracting and confusing. To hear any character, Malcolm Reynolds for instance, speak in one chapter with a man’s voice and in the next with a woman’s voice is confusing. Most decent narrators have specific voices they use for specific characters, this not only makes the reading more enjoyable but it lets the reader know who is currently speaking. To have more than one person doing the voice for the same character is just plain stupid. What were you thinking?

I would have preferred a longer book. Otherwise it was excellent, as his stories usually are.
