Historia
This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

Not sure why the reviews are so polar opposite.

Unreliable narrator or plain Mary Sue.
Revisado: 11-12-19
rothfuss absolves himself from writing a flawed or believable character by relying way too heavily on the idea that the protagonist is an unreliable narrator who is embellishing his past.
even goes so far as to have characters in the frame tale conspire to steer the protagonist away from negative parts of his life.
I'm literally only listening to the second book to see if the protagonist gets knocked down to size. same reason I watch Mayweather boxing ppvs.
Rothfuss can't write dialog for women very well either.
Podehl does great accents/character voices but the voice is brassy and I can't help but wish he adjusted the levels to be a bit more bass/baritone.
overall the world the book takes place in is a fun one. almost like Harry Potter written by a man with more adult themes.

The spoken words are very clear and well done, but compared to the pimsleur language audio lessons this is nearly useless unless you already have a solid base and understanding of the language. .
Words or phrases are said in english once , then repeated in serbian twice, with no explanation as to which word means what in the phrase. Nothing about grammar or structure or syntax. You don't know if there is any conjugation or gender to any words etc...
It's literally just thousands of phrases, one after the other with no relationship to one another. So you don't even have a way to search for a lesson that's all commerce themed phrases, or food/restaurant etc.. Impossible to locate a specific phrase you are curious about and find it in the giant audio book.
This might allow you to memorize a few phrases without understanding what you're actually saying, but it will not assist you with learning the actual language.
